Wait until you've lost the weight and kept it off. Weight loss will definitely change the appearance of the tattoo.
But I'd also like to point out that aging changes the appearance of tattoos, as well. As someone who cares for older patients, I can't imagine why anyone would get one, because they sure look bad 20 or 30 years later. Saw a peacock on a man's bicep yesterday that on this 68 year old looked like a fuzzy blue and green dandelion. And you should see what a tattoo on a woman's breast looks like after she ages 20 or 30 years. My goodness! You might want to think twice about the whole thing. . .

If your weight fluctuates, take a pass on the tattoo.. chances are you will continue to go up and down and it will affect the look.. Also.. what seems like a good idea now, will turn out to drive you bananas.. Women with tattoos look trashy and grandmothers, don´t get me started. Think of your possible business career in years to come.. Having a tattoo on display is really bad. If you really need to get a tattoo, get one in a discreet place. Another good idea, is to get those temporary tattoos.. see how you like it.. have some photos taken with it on display, look at yourself the way others will see you. And one last thing...DON´T DO IT.

Finish losing weight first before you get the tattoo.
Your skin will change significantly by the time you've lost weight.
If you get it done before you lose weight you have the risk of getting stretch marks ruening your tattoo. At least if you get stretch marks while your loosing weight, you can tattoo over them.
(Sometimes when you loose weight too quick you get stretch marks. Keep in mind that once a tattoo is ruened by stretch marks there is very little to do to fix it)

I have gotten rid of a significant amount of weight(104.5lbs) and I am very glad that I have not had my arms tattooed because of the amount of loose skin. I have ink from the nape of my neck to between my shoulders, my left calf, my lower back, my left butt cheek, the left side of my chest-all before I lost the weight-and none of them were affected by the weight reduction.

my advice, yes u should wait until u loose the weight before you get the tattoo. You are going to be losing weight and the skin may stretch making the tattoo sag.

If you have I AM SAMANTHA tattooed and your skin gets folds on it, you could end up with 'I AM S A N T A' showing. You would then be very popular at Christmas.

depending how much weight you loose! If its just 20 or 30lbs it wont that much but if your significantly over weight it will.
Get a tattoo for a reward for loosing weight! That way it wont be affectid at all!
