i once heard a joke that went like this; "how do you stop five black guys from raping a white girl? throw a bucket of chicken at them."
do you think that is racist, because i do! when i first heard that 'joke' i was so mad and shocked, i didn't know what to do!would you have reacted the same way?

Yes, that is very racist. I would have been offended if someone told me that joke. You are not wrong in your thinking, because I agree with you. Don't listen to the ignorant people who tell you that "it just a joke and get over it". It's not really just a joke. It can be hurtful and I would be upset by it. However, as a blonde chick, I can laugh along with those "blonde jokes". But that is totally different than talking about people of another race. I agree with you 100%. Don't listen to the other "you know whats".
By the way, I heard a terrible joke about a mentally retarded person, and I was very offended by that. It's just cruel.

I would not have been outraged. I guess you feel that way cuz it has to do with black guys and a white girl. The main issue of the joke is the issue with black men and fried chicken; black men love their fried chicken. You can retell the joke by replacing the white girl with just 'girl'. That way you can be sure no-one will get offended. Whether or not others think its racist, it is not a very good joke. Certainly will not get me rolling on the floor.

Yes indeed it is racist. It is asking the listener to believe 1) that all black men are rapists and 2) that all blacks are irresistably drawn to fried chicken. How much more racist can you get?
You don't say what you did other than get shocked and mad. Personally, I would have politely explained "That is a racist joke and I do not find it in the least funny." and then I would have found someone else to talk to.
But that's just me.

Yes, I would have reacted the same way, it's a very rude comment.

However, sometimes people who tell those inappropriate "jokes" don't realize how inappropriate they are. Next time you're in that situation, try saying something like, "Sorry, but I don't understand. What's so funny about that?" or "Was that supposed to be funny?" Usually when I say that, the person realizes immediately how rude the comment was.

Standing up to racist "jokers" is one of the steps to eliminate racism! :)

I'm more offended by the rape portion myself, but it is a racist joke. I tend to ignore and walk away from ppl who tell these kind of jokes. There are other ways to be funny.

umm, i chuckled , but i,m not racist .I even have mixed grandkids . but now, if someone called them the n word , ..it,s on .... There are lots of jokes about all diff kinds /races of people ...skinny people, fat people , and if everyone got Offended everytime they heard a joke , the whole world would be at war .you can t wear your feelings on your shoulder .
