An intake test to evaluate you for a drinking problem, if you have to ask this question repeatedly.
Failing that, it's usually too late the day of the hangover. What you needed to do was hydrate yourself with water or gatorade only before going to sleep. A hangover is dehydration (and dying of thirst feels like the worst hangover imaginable). When you drink alcoholic beverages, before going to sleep drink 1 8-oz glass of water for every serving of alcohol (1 serving = 1 oz hard liquor or 4 oz wine or 6 oz beer) you had in the previous 8 hours. If that sounds like too much water to drink, you might be drinking too many cocktails also.

When drinking spirits drink water with it. 250ml per standard drink. Don't drink on an empty stomach. Drink lots of water before you go to bed, and some gatorade or electolyte drink. Your body can't pee out alcohol, it has to metablolise it. You are pissing out water, vitamins and minerals when you drink, not alcohol.
In the morning rehydrate first. Never take a multivitamin or paracetamol pill untill you're rehydrated,or you'll clog your liver and kidneys. Soda lemon and honey helps. Lemonade. Gatorade. Tea. Coca cola. Greasy breakfast or hamburger. Tom yum soup. Hair of the dog as the last resort.
Epheralgen codeine if you can get it. two tablets =60mg of codeine takes the edge off
Oh and don't drink too much beer in dodgy countries like Thialand or Vietnam where they preserve the beer heavily with formaldahyde and glycerine because they don't have refrigerated transport. And if you are Vegan, and can find some vegan alcohol made with free range yeast that wasn't filtered through pig intestine the best hangover cure I can think of is to go shoot yourself in the head.

hangover is the bodies reaction to shock dehydration. alcohol replaces the water in your blood stream.
this causes the muscles to ache because they are not getting water (including the brain).
to cure a hangover before you go to bed drink a 16-24 oz bottle of water. put another bottle of water and/or gatoride/poweraide next to the bed to chug as soon as you wake up. if you wake up to pee during the night get a drink of water or juice before going back to bed each time.
in the morning take 2 tylenol & chug the other bottle of water - then follow up with a breakfast which includes juice or watery fruit like oranges, grapefruit or melon.

Salty, greasy food. Eggs are good too. Milk, OJ, aspirin and Ibuprofen.
The best thing is an IV, normal saline solution and some O2, but those are more difficult to come by.
Best thing during drinking is to make sure you have eaten and to eat something more. Also, drink water and take some Advil or aspirin before bed.
Good luck!!
