Is this ironic? I'm in a similar situation! If he's really into you or just a good friend, he won't or shouldn't care how many times you call in a week.
Personally, I talk to the girl I hope to get with at least 4 times a day. She doesn't seem to care and is happy to talk to me everytime...OR she's really good at faking happiness...
I think more than once in an hour is too much...but that's because my bills get expensive!

However many you and he are comfortable with. I'm a guy with several gal friends who I all enjoy talking to. Some I see at school, we talk a bit here and there. One in partictular I'll call almost every other night and talk for hours, but we both understand it's nothing more than friendship. It's really whatever works for you and he. And if he gets some idea to that nature, you can either explain to him that's it not like that, or if it really is, tell him so.

The number of times you call someone for important reasons is not in question...too many for unimportant reasons could easily make you a pest with the reverse effects

If you're in love with him, you should work that out instead of keeping it in and calling him (most likely NOT talking to him about your feelings).

Anyway, if you call him alot, make it small talk. Or you can call him sparriodically and have deep convos.
