Master Free Mason, Selami Isindag, in his book intended for Mason audience, entitled Evrim Yolu (The Way of Evolution), explains the matter in this way:
“The most important characteristic of our school of morality is that we do not depart from the principles of logic and we do not enter the unknowns of theism, secret meanings or dogmas. On this basis we assert that the first appearance of life began in crystals under conditions that we cannot know or discover today. Living things were born according to the law of evolution and slowly spread over the earth. As a result of evolution, today's human beings came to be and advanced beyond other animals both in consciousness and intelligence”.

Francis Darwin, Life and Letters of Charles Darwin, Vol.II, from charles Darwin to J. Do Hooker, March 29, 1963

No, but I know you are a creationist because you believe science threatens your religion.

I'm an evolutionist because creationists insist it is an either/or proposition. I don't know enough about evolution to have a valid opinion one way or another, but I do know that creationism is nonsense.

Creationism requires a person to accept two opposing thoughts as both being factual, to wit: complex beings require creation; the creator of complex beings was not created.

That is not a theory, it is nonsense.

Which makes me an evolutionist if it is an either/or proposition.

Supernatural entities, including "God(s)," do not exist in fact and that fact has nothing to do with evolution.

There's a lot of people who believe in evolution and god. They just think that evolution was one of gods tools in creating life. At least they can accept logic when they see it. Not what I believe but they're certainly less annoying that the straight up creationists.

No, I'm an evolutionist because there's strong evidence of it across many branches of science.

Belief in god is independent of belief in evolution, except for creationists, who seem to think these are the only two possible explanations. They aren't.

No, I believe in evolution because the scientific evidence indicates that this theory is most likely to be correct. You questionn indicates that the writer thought the same and stated that dogmatic belief can divert you from the truth

Fine and dandy if you want to only look at things in black and white, and sure their are people that look at things like that. Most people, however, have accepted the reality of evolutionism, yet still believe in a higher power.

It's incredibly hard to grant validity to the extremes on EITHER side of the argument.

One cannot "believe" in evolution. Evolution is science-based; it is not a dogma. That is like saying, "I choose to believe in gravity because I refuse to accept that some divine intervention keeps us from floating off."

I am an evolutionist because I see it happening around me. Science may not explain every single detail but it seems much more plausible than some magical being that we are supposed to believe in without proof saying, "Kazam! Here's everything!"

It is as ridiculous as believing in magic elves to me...

i am both an evolutionist and a creationist, i find it very strange when people say god works in only one way, who says god could not have kick started evolution

To answer your question......I am an evolutionist NOT cuz I reject the existence of "god". I am an evolutionist cuz I am more satisfied by the supportive proof of evolution than I am by the supportive proof of creationism. Simple as that. :-)
