You can have my guns when you pry them from my cold dead fingers.
As an American I have the RIGHT to bear arms. SO KISS MY WHITE AMERICAN AS$.
Sorry for the statement above. NRA just informed me that the lovely US government is trying again with the UN or some stupid f*cking group we are apart of to ban fire arms.

All the "cold dead hand..." and 2nd Ammnd. arguments are fine, but here's one more philosophical. Guns are inanimate. Guns don't kill people any more than cars cause drunk driving. So then, it is the behavior that must be regulated, not the object, and we have already done that. It is illegal to kill someone and it is illegal to drive drunk. Banning the object (cars or guns in this case) would only be redundant and cause undue and overwhelming hardship to all the law abiding people who use them for their respective intent.
It is the action which must be limited, because I can kill you just as dead with a bat, my butcher knife, a golf club, a shoe string, or my plain old fists. In fact, I could run you over with my car.
EUREKA!! Guns aren't the problem, cars are!
BAN CARS! BAN CARS!

Guns aren't actually banned in Australia - they are just better regulated than in the USA.
Unlike many states in the USA you can't just walk into a shop any buy the latest "off the shelf" machine gun.

The US and Australia have different forms of Government. When this country was founded we understood the folly of disarming the citizens of the country. Allowing only the Government to be armed is called a Police State, most of us choose not to allow that type of Government to exist here.
And by the way Medical Doctors kill more people in this country every year than criminal misuse of firearms by a margine of almost 3 to 1. Think I'm wrong LOL Look up the Government's on stats. Deaths due to criminal misuse of a gun averages about 35,000 per year, deaths due to medical malpractice aveages 90,000 to 110,000 per year.

The 2nd Amendment to the Constitution guarantees law abiding American Citizens the right to bear arms. The American population is not a killing machine. There are certainly more law abiding gun carrying citizens here than there are criminals with guns. You really make yourself sound stupid by making such a statement.

Why should we have to do what the rest of the world has thought they wanted to do? Why should we comply to what some other country wants. We are Americans that makes us better otherwise we wouldn't have criminals trying to enter this nation, as opposed to being sent here.
I've never killed anyone, most gun owners have never killed anyone.
I've had a couple of situations where I was glad I was carrying, didn't have to pull my pistol thankfully.
We have had mountain lion attacks in this state. I wouldn't want to try to kill a mountain lion with a knife, or my bare hands.
It is my God-given right to be able to defend myself. If you want to be a victim that's your choice, but at the end of the day I will go home to my family.

Actually no, guns are merely a tool people use, guns thierself are not evil. And of course the right to own guns is one of Americans Constitutional rights which can not be taken away by the government

What and leave all the real criminals(coppers) to carry them.
Inorder to stop the killing we would mostly need to take them away from the coppers!
You should really think things through before asking.
I hope they try it, maybe it will cause people to wake up and revolt against the covert alien occupation of our government by these taitorous liars, bullies and thieves!

Why do you think the US has not been invaded? I am guessing here, but I think the 85% of the population owning guns has something to do with. Think about it.

The US government needs to learn to give and take. Why give them anything like my right to own a gun unless they give me something in return?
I'd give up my right to own guns if they gave me the right to smoke marijuana.
Course they would never do that, they want people to give up guns and not smoke dope, so screw'em,
