we pray to worship God, we pray to fellowship with Him, we pray for His guidance, we pray because we have free will and can really mess up if we do things on our own, we are not puppets, not everything going on in your life is God's will.
God's master plan is that you have life and have it more abundantly, that you have joy, peace, love, happiness. it is up to YOU to choose to follow God's will (the Bible). God loves you very much, but He will not force you to do anything, that is your responsibility.

I don't know about you, but I pray to maintain my relationship with Jesus Christ. Think about it, a relationship isn't really anything if you don't talk so....yeah that's why I pray/talk with God. Hope this helps and God bless u.

We pray because we want to believe that there's a big Santa Claus in the sky that will help us out with our problems.

Someone has said that prayer is an offering up of our desires unto God for things agreeable to His will, in the name of Christ, with confessions of our sins and thankful acknowledgment of His mercies. Prayer is communion with God. Prayer is a sense of God’s presence. Prayer is turning the soul to God. Prayer is loving God. Prayer is knowing God.
The purpose of prayer is to express our submission to the sovereignty of God and our trust in His faithfulness. Prayer is the means by which we express all that is in our hearts to our loving and wise heavenly Father. Prayer is not to give God information, because God knows everything. Prayer brings us into reverent communion with God, worshiping Him and acknowledging Him as the Giver of all things.
We can strongly relate to the disciple who requested of Jesus, “Lord, teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:1) In response to that request, Jesus gave to them the model prayer to serve as a guide in helping to seek the Father.

because most people still don't understand that God is in control, and all things are according to His will.
This I believe;
