Anyone had their appendix taken out? Did you get any side effects. What does the appendix do?

I did many years ago so here it is, the appendix does nothing, it make no difference to your body weather it be there or not. It truly is something for no reason than it exist with no purpose. The only effects are when your appendix decide to burst, before that they cause pain in your right side, lower belly area. After a while this pains gets worst. At this point doctors, then sickness. Hopefully you will of been to the doctors and IN hospital as it is awfully for then to burst. The operation is standard and after you will be in hospital for a few days. There is no pain and no side affects apart from feeling sore for a little while. Weather they stay in or out it makes no difference. I hope this helps.

Over two years ago. I became really ill and thought I was getting some sort of an infection and I had trouble eating. I went to the doctor who sent me home and wanted me to stay off from work for the rest of the week and then she called me later that day and told me to go to the emergency room because of tests that I had done when I was in her office.
The appendix had gotten infected and spread to another organ and I had to have both removed. I didn't need the other organ either.
I remained in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks trying to get rid of the infection.
There are no real side effects but my stomach is more sensitive now.

Appendix does nothing it has no function in the body. it is removed because you get an inflammation. There are no side effects, you feel the pain of the stitches, for a short time

I had my appendix out when I was 7. It's common. The appendix is an unused part of the digestive system - we don't need it now due to evolution. Have you got appendicitis?

i had my appendix out when i was 15. a small scar, 4 stitches. i was sick after my op and it hurt to stand up properly at first. in women, it makes your period come after, i dont know about for men.

the opertaion hurts after but you soon recover and its a usless organ and you dont need to you have nothing to worry about and you dont get any side effects
