My 21 month old daughter has been removing her diaper just before but mostly after she soils her diaper. Is this a good sign of potty training readiness or should I wait?

Actually that is a good sign that your toddler is probably ready for potty training. Most pediatricians actually advise to look for signs between the ages of 18-24 months old such as removing a diaper after soiled or a mostly dry diaper through naptime. They're learning to hold it and learning that they really don't like the feeling of a dirty diaper. You will see that the main point behind training diapers is the enhanced sensations they get while soiling their diaper. Also, once a child hits their terrible twos, it becomes hard to get him/her to try new things, such as foods, potty training or coming off of breast milk/formula.

A couple of potty tricks...let him/her watch you potty. Use child psychology too. Say your child has a playmate or cousin their age, say "I bet 'Samantha' uses the potty like a big girl." And finally, when all else fails, the old reward system does wonders. Like getting a sucker for being a big kid at the doctor's office, use something your child loves, like stickers, or something that they like too much of, like their favorite Wiggles or Backyardigans video.

Hope that helps.

Yep, thats a good sign that she is ready. She is getting to know the feeling, and apparently she isn't liking the feeling because she is taking the diaper off. I'd start potty training her, and see how she does. If she doesn't seem to get getting it don't push she will when she's ready!

Definitely, she probably is uncomfortable with the diaper and should be using a potty...rule of thumb is that if the baby can walk they can start to learn how to use the potty soon after.
Good Luck.

PS: They learn faster with little help, as cruel as that may sound.

Ummm, yes and no. Experts (whoever they are I hope they have kids) say its good to train after 30 months, but with exceptions to the child. Each is different. Girls are usually easier to train. Another thing to watch for, is if she goes to get a diaper for you, then she is ready! Make it fun for her, and buy flushable wipes, and stickers. Give her a a box of animal crackers and tell her she can open them all by herself, after she potty's. Reward her for what she does each time if you can...this will encourage her to do it! I hope that works for you and her both!

Oh Yay! Good for her for realizing its uncomfortable. Just be sure to not dress her in any restricting clothes like onesies or anything complicated to remove quick cuz when she says "Mommy potty" be ready to get her there FAST!

Congrats on this milestone.

THat'ss a good sign that she's ready...offer the potty, and if she goes in the potty, offer a reward when she pees

She is letting you know she is ready to start her training. I wouldn't start using big girl panties quite yet, but would start her out on the pull ups or something equivalent to them.
Congradulations on a smart little girl, who knows what she wants.

Up it is a good sign.. Try putting a kiddy potty next to the big one.. Then when you go set her on it. If she goes, she goes.........

Good Luck...

I hope this helps..
