ok i think youve had a little mixup. there are two very similar cameras called miniDV and DVD. however, dvd cameras are sometimes refered to as miniDVD(3 letters). miniDVDs are actually disks, so you can pop it in and play it, and most support them. so miniDV is a format that records video on tape. obviously you cant stick a minidv into a dvd player. but miniDV actually offers better quality than dvd cameras, so id recommend you get on of those. so in conclusion, there is actually no miniDV disc or miniDVD tape. but there are miniDVD discs and miniDV tapes. go to www.camcorderinfo.com for help on buying. but still, i would recommend getting a mindv (with tapes) camera.

youcan put a minidv in a dvd player, but the disc must be "finalized" first. This process takes usually about 2 minutes.
You CAN NOT put a miniDV in an apple ibook macbook or any slot loading drive.
