My son was born without the bone in his 5 toes on one foot, he walks wonderfully but I am sad and don't know how to handle this. I am heartbroken for him and wish it was me. The umbilical cord was wrapped around his foot during the formation of his foot while he was in the womb and it caused it to not grow correctly. Please don't be mean.

oh that's sad hun...well i'm not a mother...but i know a girl in town whose foot is like webbed...it looks like it could hurt and she's still wearing sandals, so i don't think it bothers her any...just don't get discouraged, keep strong and ur son will see it hopefully as no big deal when he understands...i'm sorry for ur pain hun.

I can sortof relate. My son was born with conjoined toes. The first two toes next to the big toe are joined on both feet, to just below the toe nail. It's really unfortunate that it could have been prevented in your case. I was really bothered by it for the first while. I was mostly concerned about how other children would treat him as he gets older. He's 5 now, and no one has ever noticed. I know it won't make it better, but at least it's not anything life threatening. Everyone has small differences that make the unique. I was born with a pink birthmark (portwine stain) covering my nose and right forehead. Everyone is different, and special for their own reasons. God Bless

Sounds like your son was lucky (!!) to have had the cord around his foot VS. his neck. Thank God everyday for that and don't be sad. You said yourself that he is walking around "wonderfully". How LUCKY for him!! He has his vision, his health and two legs with slightly different feet to get around on. Sounds good to me! Teach him self confidence as he grows up and he won't even know his one foot is different than most other kids.

Look at the whole package, not just at his misfortune. You have him to hold, love and support. If he's happy and it's not affecting him, then don't waste a minute fretting and carrying a burden that isn't necessary. I'm sure you wouldn't trade him for the world.
Now, go give him a great big hug and tell him how much you love him!

Whats the saying... God makes special people and your son is one of them...

Keep smiling. I'm sure it wont bother him. And you shouldnt let it bother him by him seeing it bother you. Hes gorgeous any way he is because he's YOURS.
