That's the problem, you put him in bed with you or lay down with him, don't feel bad, my daughter would wake up at 1:00am also screaming her head off, I thought she had a nightmare so I would put her in bed with me to comfort her; soon after she would wake up at the same time like clockwork, it was then that I realized that it wasn't because of nightmares it was because she wanted in bed with me. So I would give her 5 minutes to go back to sleep and now she don't do it anymore. Don't feel bad about, sleeping with and comforting your child is one of the greatist gifts you can offer your child, hang in there things will be ok.

It's probably because maybe you changed his bed time? It's normal for people to develope different sleeping habits. Even 19 month old children. If you give him too many naps and then put him to bed early chances are he is going to wake up at 1 every so often. You should try less naps and maybe keeping him up for a little bit longer than normal. That way he will be tired and sleep through the night. They also have sleeping medicine for toddlers at your local store in the Tylenol section. If you give him the right amount he should sleep through the night. It says how much to give though. Good luck. ♥

He might be getting too much sleep during the day. I broke my daughter of that habit by tiring her out before bed and making her nap 30 mins shorter.

Talk to your pediatrician. This is very normal. He wants to snuggle with you at 1 am and crying works. One thing you can do is to cut out his naps. Or start his day earlier so that he goes to bed earlier. When that happens, he will be waking up at 10pm instead of 1am and you won't be in bed yet. At least he won't wake you up in your sleep.

When he sees that you aren't asleep yet, you foiled his goal, which is to sleep with you.

Babies like sleeping with parents because it is warm, snuggly and toasty in there. But it isn't a good idea to allow that.
