You find a variety of religions on here. There needs to be a respect for all even if there beliefs are different. There also needs to be tolerance and respect for those who are here to honestly inquire about other religions or ideals they do not understand.
What it all comes down to is this is an open forum and a platform for free speech. You are going to find plenty of opinions here some which you may agree with and some you won't. If something is offensive report it. Other than that be aware that it is a public space and you are not always going to agree with others. If we all thought the same and believed the same things this world would be an incredibly dull place.

There are a lot of reasons nonreligious people read and answer questions in this section. Some people are spiritual, but, not religious, and this category is for both kinds of people. Everyone wants their view to be heard no matter what their beliefs (or non-beliefs) are. Some people see religion as dangerous and want others to know that. There are many reasons why nonreligious people are here.
Why do people that believe in god ask questions here? If you really believed in it, you would ask it directly. It seems to me that you don't really believe in god or you're severely disrespecting it.

Hey, religious people can be pretty hurtful too.I have read responses like all gays should die and liberal athiests should be forced to live in Canada.People don't always agree and when they can't use their brain to have reasonable and intelligent conversations and opinions they resort to name calling and insults. You have to just take it with a grain of salt.Remember, everyone has opinions but opinions are like *******- everyone has one.

I am not religious, but am spiritual. I come here to learn, not to hurt. I learned that everywhere we go online, there are bound to be hurtful, stupid and trolling comments. Just ignore them and move on. Your emotions deserve better than to listen to the negative comments. :-) *hug*

I would say that most people are "religious" in their own way. I would also say that most people belong to one organized church or another.
The variable, however, is how much of their repsective lives that religion consumes.
So, your question is as broad and generalized as this one: Why is it so difficult for YOU to use spell check?

Actually, I'd say 90% of the replies are hurtful...which brings me to my answer. They're here to hurt peoples' feelings.

I am an atheist who likes to know everything I can about other beliefs (or lack thereof!) I never mean for anything to be outright malicious and I am usually here on fact-gathering and advisory missions.

misery loves company! they congregate here to recruit. this is a place where people who believe but may have a legitimate question come for support. like vultures they circle hoping to catch you in a weak moment.

Are you kidding? This is a playground.
I don't like the hurtful answers. But most of it is fun.
