Select the cell that would be the corner where the panes come together. For example, if you wanted to freeze column A and row 1, select cell B2. Then go to Window: Freeze Panes. That should work. Good Luck!

To freeze a pane, do one of the following:
The top horizontal pane Select the row below where you want the split to appear.

The left vertical pane Select the column to the right of where you want the split to appear.

Both the upper and left panes Click the cell below and to the right of where you want the split to appear.

On the Window menu, click Freeze Panes.

Put the cursor on the upper left corner of the part you don't want frozen. When you freeze, it will freeze the rows above the cursor, and it will freeze the columns to the left of the cursor.

Click on the cell where you want the split to occur. On the top of your screen, choose Window, split screen. The sheet will now have 2 separate sections, starting to the top left of the cell you selected. To remove the split screen when you're done, go to Windown, choose remove split screen.

Hope this helps.
