There is no doubt that there are a great deal of sick and twisted questions AND answers on this site. Everyone will agree with you on that (those who don't are those who are asking such things or involved with them). The most that can be done at this point is users report these questions and answers using the "report/abuse" link. After you fill out the online form, a Yahoo! Answers staff member gets the message about it and reviews the question. If it's questionable, it gets deleted. It's not a perfect system, but it does work to the best of its own ability. I can agree though that the system needs improving. Perhaps having a key word search that looks for certain words in close proximity to each other and then if the question has certain words in it in close proximity it gets sent to a staff member before being posted?

Yes!! I have seen quite a few offensive Questions and Answers!
All you can do is hit the report abuse button and help Yahoo deal with them. It can't be stopped as it only takes a few minutes to spew hatred and obscenities. By the time Yahoo gets the reports and suspends the user and/or deletes the question or answer, many people have read them. I won't let my child view this part of yahoo for this reason! Even some of what I find offensive seems to be quite acceptable to others, so there's not much I can do about it. I screen all websites that my child goes to and monitor it closely and check History etc.

I am disturbed by some of the things I see stated within these boards as well. I have a feeling Yahoo can only do so much, or run the risk of being sued for taking away someone's freedom of speech. And you can thank the millions of lawsuits that go through our court-systems every day for that lousy reason.
If you are concerned, like me, that this individual is MORE than just talk, I'd recommend contacting your local FBI field office. Have as much information and/or samples of the offenses as possible and, of course, the offender's user name. If they feel the content merits that this individual be monitored, it will help for them to start off with as much information as possible. They would be able to contact Yahoo from there and get whatever info they need to carry out an investigation.
The only way that person, and others like them, can/will be removed is if they are investigated and may SEEM to be a threat... or if they actually do something to hurt somebody. Don't you just love the justice system?

One thing is sick, and another thing is illegal. If it's illegal (like in the case of child exploitation) I report it too. But if it's only sick or immoral I ignore it, or answer what I think of the question. I don't report it because morality is not a ground for censorship. We all have different moral values, and we as a whole don't have the same moral values that people had some time ago. Times change.
And your children will sooner or later see something like this, anyway. It's up to you if you'll teach them that this is someting forbidden, that they are not to see, or if it's disgusting but not forbidden for them. If it's forbidden, that will create a lot of curiosity in them, and they might fall for that, just as the perverts want. If you teach them to be cautious, but you let them actually expose themselves to that crap, they'll grow tired of it sooner, and more importantly, they'll grow their own defences against that stuff, so they won't be vulnerable when they grow up.

Use the report abuse button under the questioner's name.I,too,am sickened by the behavior of these very immature posters. Some of these ignorant excuses for humanity think that they are being funny. They like getting a rise out of people. The best thing to do isnot to reward them with negative attention, the only kind of attention they probably get, and don't answer them but use the report abuse button and turn these people in to Yahoo.

Yes, I find some of the comments/questions completely offensive. People don't typically act like that in real life, so they shouldn't act like that online. I don't know why people are so mean to each other.
I don't know why everyone is saying freedom of speech about this issue. There is not any right to freedom of speech on Yahoo! The Constitution only applies to the GOVERNMENT, not private entities. So, Yahoo! could kick off anyone that they wanted.

You will probably need to monitor children's internet activity quite closely. The abusers of the Yahoo!ANWERS agreement can be reported, but not in time for them to remove the offenders questions or responses before your children may see them. The internet is not the greatest place for children to be, unless highly supervised, which is logistically impossible many times.

Sometimes newcomers (seldom is it seasons participants) like to come and simply be obnoxious. Just report them. I've reported seven diferent people for violations and every one, EVERY ONE is now banned from Yahoo Answers. Generally the reviewers are pretty good at weeding out the wieners.

I agree with you 100%! There should be a lot more screening done here even if they have to screen all before it hits the viewers. I feel as disgusted as you do and sometimes I will not even open some of these things for the same reason.

Yahoo does not monitor everything that comes across and has pretty much a hands off policy on the stuff that flows through. I have a suspicion that they are woefully understaffed for the volume of traffic they do look at.
