To somepolisci...
A Republican who had been trailing in the polls (due to some talk he was possibly connected to a scandal that got his predecessor indicted) won. His polls went up after he pointed out that he is stricter on illegal immigration than was his opponent and after McCain canceled an appearance at one of the candidate's benefits because the candidate opposed the Senate Bill. His opponent was also taped saying to someone who had just told her that he had no documents that it was OK, he could work for her campaign and vote for her anyhow. (She says it was a slip of the tongue.)
Busby (the one who lost) was concerned enough about the importance of the immigration issue that her campaign fund paid for and ran adds in favor of an even more conservative candidate who had ties to the Minutemen, hoping to split the vote on that issue.
The margin he won by wasn't huge, I admit. However, he had special hurdles to overcome.

Anti-illegal immigration is finally being acknowledged by our representatives. They now realize that, if they do not stop this and refuse amnesty, they will not be re-elected. A win for the people!

Majority of Americans are not anti-immigration, they(we) are anti-illegal immigration and we would like more selective immigration, work visas, student visas..etc.
Remember many of the 9-11 hijackers came into this country legally, over stayed their visas, and the INS..did nothing.
INS needs to start rounding up these people that come here on visas and never leave.
We must secure our borders..NO borders...NO country.

A republican won in a strongly republican district. He won because of his party affiliation, nothing more.

ANYONE WHO RUNS ON THE PLATFORM OF ANTI-IMMIGRATION WILL GET MY VOTE. HE WOULD BE AN AMERICAN HERO, PRESERVING OUR WAY OF LIFE. EATING BEANS AND GOING TO YARD SALES IS NOT AMERICAN, THAT'S MEXICAN.
THE SENATORS NEED TO BE REMOVED, THEY ARE NOT DOING THEIR JOB. THEIR JOB IS TO PROTECT US, YET THEY SELL US TO THE MEXICANS?
DEPORT THEM ALL!
