I am starting a new job Monday & have grey hair down to the middle of my back. I am 54 yrs old. Anyway, I would like to do something with it. The reason it's so long is because in the past it seems that whoever would cut it would totally mess it up...so, I just let it grow. While it is pretty and is easier to keep up, I'm not trying to relive my teenage years. My mother would turn over in her grave if she saw my hair....she thought anyone over 30 should have short hair. I want to go to a good place, reasonable price if possible. Maybe I should just wait for my first paycheck & splurge for Dolce or someplace with the most trained stylists....I'm trying to avoid coloring as that's a pain to keep up when it's grey. But who knows? I'm also in the Phoenix area too. Thanks for any input!

Braid it, twist it and wear it up. It is hot in Phx and long hair can get sweaty and a mess in that heat. I know, I grew up there. Don't cut it unless you really want to.

Put on a nice casual outfit and go to the best department store in town. Go to the expensive womens clothing section where they have clothes you can only dream about. Ask the best dressed, best groomed sales clerk there for a recommendation for a hairdresser. Even if the clerk doesn't use the hairdresser, having been around all the local wealthy women, she'll know which are the good salons.

Gray hair can be beautiful. I would suggest having it cut shoulder length to curl under. That would not put you into shock over having so much cut off and you can gradually go shorter or grow it out if you hate it.
Good luck with the new job and the new style.

Have you tried the JC Penney salon? My mom is your age and she gets her hair done there- she always looks great and has a short style. Try a chin length bob or something a little layered. Good luck with your new job!
