When you are trying to deal with a traumatic childhood or a traumatic event that happened to you in your life it is common to have some form(s) of regression. If you trust your therapist then be honest with him or her about your feelings of regression. Between the two of you, you can work out all the feelings you have.

It's always traumatic to relive the bad times we had experienced from our past. And we run a risk in reliving all those negative feelings as well...this is to be expected...this is how we learn to heal, not forget but just come to a area in our lives to acknowledge the fact it happened and I am not going to allow that experience to rule me.

Molestation at any age by anyone ranging from a family member to friends or total strangers is a tough thing to overcome. But it is do able to come to terms with it thru therapy and sometimes medication as well. Talk to your therapist and your doctor about how you feel.

I hope this helps you out. I too am a victim of molestation and some days are harder than others. Hang in there and you will be just fine. Stay tough. God Bless you!

Regression means that you are turning back the maturational clock & going back to your earlier modes of dealing with the world. For example, a 10 yr old boy wetting the bed. You know this, right?

If so, yes, it is actually "normal". It's one of our immature ego defenses. It also means that you haven't completely dealt with your problem as of yet & you have a lot of work to do. Google "ego defenses" & do some reading to find out where you are.

Awareness created through regression therapy allows mental, physical, and emotional release. Patients may let go of deep-seated emotions, fears, and guilt that often result in the relief of such problems as chronic pain, alcoholism, jealousy, arthritis, claustrophobia, agoraphobia, migraine headaches, weight problems, insomnia, obsessive/compulsive behaviors, chemical dependencies, depression, and sexual dysfunctions. The
release of fear and other painful emotions strengthens will and self-esteem and fosters forgiveness towards others and towards the self.
