make sure his dog bed is in there and if you can put him up on the seat. make sure you stop every 2 or 3 hours to let him use the restroom. keep towels in the car because he may get car sick and throw up (my chihuahua does). keep a bottle of water and a bowl so you can give him water. take a little food as well, it may comfort him. if anything he may be really happy he's going with you. if someone can hold him, even you, do that every now and then so he can see outside. for the most part i think he will be ok, my grandmother takes her chihuahuas to mexico all the time and we take ours on road trips and they've always done ok.

I took a trip from Central Illinois to Maryland last year. We put him in his crate and made sure there was plenty of room to move around and he had good comfy blankets. I also got him a couple of little chew bones to keep him occupied. Most of the time though he slept.

His crate also had a door on top so we could take him out and sit with us up front every once and a while and that seemed to calm him down when he got lonely. We also brought portable dog bowls so we could give him some water at the rest areas and such.

Good luck with your move!!

Have a place for the dog in the car that he can lay down in or have the dog in a create with water and some of his favorite toys. Make regular stops for the dog to go poddy.
If the dog is prone to car sickness get car sickness medication for the vet

I moved my cat accross country twice...from MI to San Diego and then San Diego to Naples, FL. However, dogs are different. The first trip, I tried to sedate my cat - it was awful, he was SO scared! The second time (5 yrs later) I decided not to, it was much better. I did not keep him caged the 2nd time, which was also much better for him... he was much more comfortable sitting on my lap - I know that's dangerous, but he was very upset otherwise. Basically, just play it by ear....if you can get something to sedate him if absolutelsy necessary, that would be good...otherwise just pay as much attention to him as is safe.

be sure you take plenty of rest stops for your animal and use your air conditioner in the car. If you're not using an air conditioner, don't keep your pet in a carrier. If you're going to have someone with you that can keep the dog occupied during the ride, that's always a plus as well.

I would just give him as much room in the car as you can. Stop every once and a while so he can go to the bathroom. if you ever leave him in the car while your out open the windows a bit so he can get some fresh air.

put him in a little travel kennel with a nice fluffy blanket and he should sleep a lot. Just stop every few hours at a rest area with grass so he can go potty! Good Luck.

well....I travel with my cat by airplane. I am getting ready to come back to the states. About a 26 hour trip all together. I give him tranquilizers...gets him high...really relaxed. Also slows down their bowels..so you do not have to worry about accidents. It does not harm them. You can go to any vet and ask.
