besides the fact that on the grille of the mustang there's a mustang and on the grille of the cobra a cobra figuerine is present. i want to know what is the real difference between the two cars. P.S to view images search for ford mustang and shelby cobra an yahoo images.

Mustang GT is powered by a 300hp, 4.6L SOHC V8
Shelby Cobra is powered by a 480hp, 5.4L DOHC with an Eaton supercharger. The Cobra also has a Tremec 6 speed transmission, whereas the GT has a 5 speed or a 4speed auto.
The Cobra has better brakes and suspension than the GT as well, along with different trim (both interior and exterior) and more sport oriented gauges.

The GT is rated at 300Hp with a 4.6 litter engine. The Shelby is called the GT500 which is a flash back to the late 60's. This car is rated at 480Hp with a supercharged 5.4 Litter motor. Since the early 90's there has always been a Cobra version of the Mustang. More power better handling etc. The last year of the Cobra Mustangs was 2004. Ford dropped the Cobra name on the Mustangs since Carol Shelby is now working with Ford again just like in the late 60's and those Shelby Mustangs always had that Cobra emblem as well.

A Shelby is a base GT with body panel changes.
A GT has available options which upgrade the interior, stereo and other "creature comforts" which may not be available to the base GT converted to a Shelby

The cobra motor has 4 valves per cylinder. The GT has 2 valves per cylinder. the cobra has a steel crank, better rods, and forged pistons.

Actully the Shelby GT500 Is actully rated at 500HP, they boosted it up from 480HP to 500HP, didnt release this until a month ago
