Which Bible are you in reference too and which religion do you belong too? The Jehovah Witnessess preach that only 144,000 Jehovah Witnessess will be in heaven and no other Christians from other religions will be there.
Many different religions teach many different things but the following is all you need to have the keys to the Kingdom:
Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and that He died on the Cross for your sins? If you believe in that, then that is all you need.
Too many religions have their own ideas of what a Christian must do or don't to enter heaven. But many of their teachings are wrong and misleading which can cause us to become confused and question our beliefs. Satan uses our confusion to his advantage. Watch that carefully, because Satan will do anything and everything to put a wedge between God's followers to make us doubt God or Jesus.
Ask for God's guidance in all of this and it wouldn't hurt if you got some good sound Christian Books to help you along your way of Christiandom. Do you like Billy Graham? He is a excellent preacher, teacher, author. Here are some others that may help you: Charles Swindoll; Charles Stanley: Ann Graham Bell; Patsy Clairmont; Max Lucado; Jack van Impe. These are the ones I read and enjoy the most.
Remember: If Satan ever stops bugging you or tempting you to do or say bad things, your in trouble. That usually means that you are his and not God's. Pray every day for strength, knowledge and wisdom in your journey of Christian life. God Bless you!

It doesn't actually say there will be 144,000 in Heaven with God... It says in Revelations that during the Tribulation(the 7 year period after Jesus comes back to take Christians Home) there will be 144,000 Jewish witnesses. They will preach about God's word to those who were left behind. See, the Antichrist will act like the king over earth and will gain the trust of the majority of the population. The 144,000 witnesses are there to get lost people to believe in God so they will go to the new Kingdom of Heaven after the Tribulation. Sorry if this doesn't make sense. Email me if you need me to explain some more.

Considering there are 6 Billion people on the earth currently, not to mention the thousands of years worth of people that have already died, don't you think 144,000 is a sadly small number? I've read the Bible many times, and never seen anything that indicated only that number would make it to heaven. There is a passage in Revelation that contains the number 144,000, but it refers to the number of elders that will be at a certain meeting. Try reading the King James version- the language is a little older, but the meanings of the words haven't been interpereted, translated, mistranslated, and skewed so many times as the "modern wording" versions.

Well I am a Christian and I am a little confused about the reference you are talking about, maybe what would help is get the book and the verse that it is said to be in. Because if their is only going to be 144,000 to be let into heaven then there are whole lot of people and good people mind you that ain't going to make it. So maybe check out the King James Bible to find more truth. Hope this will help, because I would like to think I 'll make it to heaven.

First off, every true Christian will be in Heaven with God. This teaching you have heard is from Jehovah Witnesses. The Bible teaches that all those who put their faith in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in God’s presence. In John 12:26, Jesus says that if anyone follows Him (not just a certain number), then where He is they will be also. Two chapters later in John 14:2-3 Jesus talks again of us being with Him in His Father’s house. And in Revelation chapter 7 verse 9, John speaks of seeing a great multitude which no one could number (more than 144,000) before the Lamb, worshipping. The only 144,000 mentioned in Revelation are in chapters 7 and 14, and they are Jews, 12,000 from each tribe. And all Christians will be in Heaven, if one reads a little further in Revelation 7, it talks of a countless multitude worshipping God before His throne in Heaven. Hope this helps clear things up, God bless!

Actually it doesn't say that. In the book of Revelations 7 and 14 it does state that 144,000 will have a seal as those people will not be harmed during a certain period during the time of the apocalypse. It doesn't mean that only 144,000 are allowed in heaven.

sorry that the others mock you for this question. Many people unfortunately don't get it...
It is a very good question and I agree sometimes confusing.
I looked it up for you
Regarding the 144,000 - "These are the only ones whom Jehovah God takes to heaven with His Son. All others who gain life in His new world will live in Paradise restored here on earth" (1958).

that link is very informative... if you would like to read more.
I understand it to be the 144,000 from the 12 tribes of Isreal that went to heaven with Jesus. Howver, in many places the bible mentions that All who believe that Christ in sthe Son of God will be in heaven with him..
Hope this is helpful for you ;)

If you dig a bit deeper you find out that they are 144,000 jewish males that will join God in heaven. These are the Martrys of the tribulation.
They are not saved by grace but by thier works. The age of grace ends after the tribulation begains.
And if read below the 144,000 of Jewish descent but unnumbered others in Heaven at that time. To all serve the Lamb.

Quit getting hung on minutia in the Bible and stick to the four Gospels and maybe Acts.
That is what got the Pharacees and Sadducees of the Sanhedron. They were paying so much attention to the letter of the law that they had lost the spirt of the law. And God had to send his Son to straighten the whole thing out.
There is a passage in the Old Testament and repeated in the New Testament, 'I will write my words upon their hearts'. When you understand what being a Christian is all about you won't be getting hung up on where your jot and title are going.

This number represents the number of people that will come to know Jesus as their savior during the time called the "tribulation" or "great tribulation". It isn't an exact number. It does not represent the number of people that will go to heaven totally, especially before the tribulation. This however, is a very widely held belief amongst Jehovahs Witnesses.
