I fully understand your need to meet or get to know your biological father, but you also need to understand that you may be setting yourself up for a tremendous amount of emotional pain. Sometimes, it is best to leave things as they are especially if it was his choice to walk away.
Being told you are not wanted, or that you are not their child is devastating, make no mistake, it hurts more than you know. However, never having the opportunity to "find out" seems almost overwhelming at times.
To search for people there are ton's of internet sites you can use, but first and foremost if you have his SSN and date of birth, the Social Security website has a place to verify if someone is dead or not.
Just think before you act on this one. You may be his child, but that does not mean that you know the full story and that you know the absolute truth about whatever may have happened in the past. In addition, you are not the only person affected, your mother will be affected as well should you find him alive and you choose to make contact.
Things may turn out ok and they may not, so be sure to really be honest when you ask the question: Do I really want to open this pandora's box, and am I ready for the full story and answers?
When I met my biological father many years ago it was not what I hoped for, we did not live happily ever after. This does not mean you won't, but it does say that you have to be willing to bear the hurt should it turn out badly. Trust me, next to losing a child, I can't tell you how bad you can feel being disavowed face to face like that.
Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it is the philosophy you need to consider.
Best wishes to you in your decision

ooo...14 years is...woah.Okay,first things first. What happened to your dad?How and where did he go missing? That is one thing you need to know to start the search. You can write to the press and the newspaper telling them about your story and plea with the press formally to broadcast your story in the news. You can call in the radio and tell them your story and seek help from the listeners.Print posters of your dad(if you have his pictures) and paste them everywhere that you can think of but the best place is to paste it near the airport or immigration center. You can also hand his poster to all the neighbourhood police center, the airport security or the immigration center security. You can hire spys and detectives to look for your dad.If all else fails, expand your search to neighbouring country using the same method mentioned above. If still no news, your dad may be dead.To confirm this, you can check with the mortuary for unidentified male bodies that match your dad's description for eg,his race, skin tone and age but i doubt any mortuary stills keep an unidentified body for 14 years but hey, just try it out okay?Don't give up.You can ask the person in-charge of the mortuary where they sent the unidentified bodies which has exceeded its stay in the mortuary for identifying.Yes,all this cost money but he is your dad and he may be somewhere in the world missing you like how you misses him so whatever you do just don't give up even though it requires you to scour the graves for his tombstone. No matter how long it takes, just don't give up.He is your daddd!!!

If he has any relatives, they are the most likely to know where he is.
If he has not worked under his SSN, he probably has not worked under his real name either, so tracking his name will not help.
If he works in a unionized industry, like electrician, you might try the union.
It would help to know why DSS thinks he is dead. If he has not been heard from by anyone for 14 years, your mother could have him declared dead for purposes of collecting social security or other benefits.

it particularly is a bad loss. even however you probably did no longer have a bodily intimate dating and positively did no longer meet him. i do no longer doubt the sentiments you have for this individual - they'd desire to be particularly demanding to handle on the 2nd. yet in time, once you're intimate with somebody on a actual and emotional l point, it is going to experience a remarkable deal diverse and the dating will attain a diverse point. i might tell your father and mom - basically blurt it out. a minimum of then they be responsive to and could attempt understand. in case you're saying no longer something they'll understand no longer something and you will come to resent them. solid success with getting with the aid of this.

Do you have any idea which country he might be in? If so add it to your question, the more information you put up the better it will be.
