Nope. it's fun being the president because you can stir up a hornet's nest and then run like hell when they attack. Same thing with LBJ and Vietnam. He charged into the war blinded by his own agendas and when it came time to run for office, he spilt. The war will have to continue when the next president steps in. America is too deep into it now. I think now it's a matter of sticking it out until the end or tucking tail and running from it.

When Bush leaves office, the decision of whether to pursue the military option will, of course, fall to the next administration. Congress could at any time deny funds for use in any "War on Terror", but that is highly unlikely, as no legislator would want to be seen as pulling the rug out from under our fighting men.
Realistically, the next President will have two choices: stay the course that Bush has put us upon, or begin a gradual but definitive pullout of troops from the region. You can't just send a fleet of C-130s and C-5As over to Iraq and evacuate troops and materiel en masse; the panic and uncertainty among the Iraqi people would likely cause more violence and a resulting state of anarchy.
A drawdown of troops in the near future is a very real possibility; the political winds have turned against a prolonged engagement in Iraq. There are also many other hot spots in this world that the US is aching to stick its nose into... :)

The war on terror will not stop until they get the terrorist
organizations destroyed or declare Islam to be banned. The next President would make a terrible mistake if he or she would pull back all of our troops from the middle east without making sure
that the middle east was able to defend itself.

if a democrat president comes in, the day will be saved. it'll be EXACTLY the same as 16 years ago, when the first bushie started a war and couldn't finish it, clinton stepped in, solved the problems, and ended the war. another stupid bushie come in and restarts the same war? give me a break. now we have to wait for a democrat to step in, take control, and win the war. i gurantee that within the first year, they will have found osama, iraq will be back to normal, at least half-assed, and we will finally have border security. this war is stupid, just like regan and his stupid war on drugs, that will NEVER end.

When radical islamic fundamentalists stop trying to kill all westerners in the name of Allah, or when they succeed in killing all of us, the war will be over.
