warning signs in cats are often too late. cats by nature try to hide their weaknesses so that they are not eaten by predators. the best way to prevent anything is to make regular visits to your vet at least once a year so they can evaluate your pet, in senior pets bloodwork is a good way to get an idea whats going on inside. also check your cat for any lumps and bumps that aren't normal, then have your vet check them out.

My cat died of breast cancer 6 years ago. I don't know that it CAN be prevented. We got her to the vet for surgery as soon as we felt a lump. She was ancer free for a few months and then lumps just started popping up everywhere. We had to put her to sleep. I miss my little baby with all my heart. I wish there was something that could have been done.

I'm sorry.

No warning signs, but cats have had a serious problem with injection site cancer. Read the University of Illinois web links:

I don't think there are any. Take your pet to the vet regularly would be my suggestion. I love cats. So sorry for your loss.

so sorry to hear of your loss...
not sure if they are signs cats are notorious for hiding their pain... but if they are not as active as they used to be or eating less then that is probably a sign there are not well ....
