My hubby is in the Navy. He is out to sea right now. I was wondering if anybody knew anybody on a ship? If so, what ship is it and what is their rate and job?

Don't be ignorant. We can post about Naval ships and our family and friends.
Just because your husband is an officer doesn't mean that he is intelligent or has been in the service long. All it means is that the pansy went to school first and then joined.

Officers can have absolutely NO experience and be an officer. On the other hand... a Chief in the Navy has to work his way up... and earns his rank through experience.

I just have to say the I LOVE what you said about officers! My parents both retired from the Navy as Senior Chiefs and my husband is an enlisted Marine. Unless the officer was prior enlisted, they don't know anything and need to get off of their high horse! Often times, the enlisted has to teach them their jobs! I saw plenty of that when I was in the Navy and it's ridiculous! All officers should be prior enlisted.

There are good officers and there are bad officers. There are also good enlisted personnel and bad enlisted personnel. Neither ever make it very far in the military.

I know a lot of people in the Navy. My roommate's boyfriend is headed to Japan at the end of the summer as an ensign to be stationed on LCC-19, USS Blue Ridge.

My best friend is a LT (JG) on CG-71, USS Cape St George out of Norfolk, and just got back from a 6 month deployment.

And one of the guys I know from school is a new ensign on board the USS Antietam.

I know lots of officers, and many of them I'd be immensely proud to serve with, given the chance.

I was a nuclear MM on the USS Bremerton(SSN 698), a nuclear submarine. I was basically a mechanic on the steam plant. GM always looked like fun, though.

Be careful..OPSEC should always be a concern. Giving out rating and ship names can impact OPSEC and PERSEC. you should NEVER discuss ship's movement on a public domain such as yahoo.
