It is part of the primal reptile within the base cortex of the human mind. It is from there that we define ourselves, our mate, our tribe. We can through rational enlightenment control the "reptilian cortex" (a short hand term for the primal creature within), but we are never without it. Religion is an expression of tribe. Our religion; Our God; Our tribe; Our individuality. Hope this helps.

Excellent question !! I believe that people do have hatred for other religions (ie: the previous link to the Islam/Muslim hate page). But I think the hatred comes from ignorance and misinterpretation of the other religion. I am a non-muslim and I have several Muslim friends who are much more loving and giving than most Christians I know (and they read the Quran every day). True followers of the Abrahamic religions are peaceful and loving people. I said "true followers".

My answer for your first question is that we don't REALLY hate other religions! This kind of hate which is too general or superficial (the subject of the hate -religion- is much to vast to really have what to hate, it is all about ideas). I REALLY hate things that REALLY hurt me at one point or another. Other 'hate's are just superficial, not real and/or programmed.
It is for certain not in-built; it is ‘forced’ in our minds by the society (parents, tutors, educators, movies, literature etc.). This hate is much to political and it is called conditioning. All these subjects that you mention are general: color, poverty, ignorance etc. come on! Real hate???
Experiment: ask a man that ‘hates’ for color, religion etc., what is really their hate about?…you will most of the time get a confused answer rather than a clear one. I’ve done that. :D
Have fun!

I agree with the words of scripture regarding how to treat others.

"But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, "that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. "For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? "And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect." Matthew 5:44-48

'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.' Leviticus 19:18

"And if a stranger dwells with you in your land, you shall not mistreat him. The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God." Leviticus 19:33-34

"If you meet your enemy's ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again. If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying under its burden, and you would refrain from helping it, you shall surely help him with it." Exodus 23:4-5

"Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; Lest the LORD see it, and it displease Him, And He turn away His wrath from him." Proverbs 24:17-18

"If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink." Proverbs 25:21

"And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, 'Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.' Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, 'Lord, do not charge them with this sin.' And when he had said this, he fell asleep." Acts 7:59-60

"Therefore, If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:20-21

I don't hate anyone. I think that if we truly belong to a religion we should be able to tolerate others regardless if they believe what we believe. "Judge not lest ye be judged" is a good way to live.

Itz not that other people hate other peoples religions itz just some people get mad when other people don't believe in what they do. And that's when people start getting mad @ each other and eventually start DISLIKING the other persons religion!!!
