Because Muslims believe in Jesus, just not the same way as the Christian do. They believe he was a Prophet, born without a father, a miracle. The only one who was without sin. They honor him and respect him.
In the Quran, it mention the story about Muhammad trip to heaven to meet God and request to reduce the number of prayers from 50 a day to 5 day. In that trip, he describe who he meet in heaven. The first level of Heaven, he meet Jesus,. he greeted him, and moved to the next, and so on. In this it shows that they hold Jesus in high regard, and respect him.
No, Jesus was not Muslim. When he came, he didn't teach people on the purpose of dividing them, and when you say he was a Muslim that is what it means. His purpose was to guide us to God, and show us what and how we should treat one another. Religion divide people, and Jesus didn't want that. He said 'Love one another as the Lord Loves you all.' He didn't preach one religion, he preached guidance and Love. If you want to know him! then be an open minded person, a learn about him and what the wanted for us. Peace and Love, for all of us. No matter what was your religion. Don't judge him because of some Christians do, as you wouldn't like to be judge by what other from your faith do.

Muslims are allowed to name their children after Prophets of Islam. As they don't worship Jesus/issa there is no problem. So, what better name to give a child than naming him after a beloved Prophet of Allah (swt).

Muslims have nothing against naming kids prophet names. It does not mean symbolism in any way, and the names are considered beautiful. Have you never heard of people named David or Joseph or Abraham?
It is frowned upon to name a child Allah (God).

Maybe they like the name? Naming a person Jesus isn't blasphemy, you know. People can name kids whatever they want. I may even name my kid God someday if the misses will agree to it.

As someone said, respect, and hopefully that their child will act like their namesake. Hispanic people name their children Jesus, but it is pronounces Hey-Suess (best way I could make it phonetic).
