"As regards the individual nature, woman is defective and misbegotten, for the active power of the male seed tends to the production of a perfect likeness in the masculine sex; while the production of a woman comes from defect in the active power...." Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologica,Q92, art. 1, Reply Obj. 1And a man will choose...any wickedness, but the wickedness of a woman...Sin began with a woman and thanks to her we all must die" Ecclesiasticus, 25:18, 19 & 33. 1
"And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her." Ecclesiastes 7:26, from the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament)
here are a few more passages to take a look at.
Genesis 1:27 to 3:24,Genesis 3:16:,
Genesis 16:2,Leviticus 12:1-5 the bible also tells us if a woman is raped she must marry the man who raped her..how is that considered a holy union?Deuteronomy 22:28-29
Judges 19:16-30Behold, here is my daughter a maiden, and his concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seemeth good unto you: but unto this man do not so vile a thing." The man sent his own concubine outside to the gang, who proceeded to serially rape her. She died of the attacks. The man only learned of her death when he was leaving the house in the morning and stumbled across her body. The woman was clearly considered expendable and of little value

Judeo-Christianity has a long lineage of abusing women:
As you approach a town to attack it, first offer its people terms for peace. If they accept your terms and open the gates to you, then all the people inside will serve you in forced labor. (((We aren't going to kill you, just enslave you, do you surrender now?))) But if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you. Deuteronomy 20:10-14

From what I've come to understand and believe is: Christianity is supposed to be the opposite of anything and everything Pagan. Before Christianity came into play, Pagans revered women because they are the nurturers, the healers, and the mothers. They have the ability to spring life from their bodies - and to ancient Pagans that was the most amazing thing ever. So it makes sense why the bible downplays women.
This is also one of many reasons why I never connected with the bible. I can't celebrate a book thats going to make me feel guilty for being a certain gender.

Years ago, when I was a young 20-something, this was one of the few reasons (it's not the only reason) I felt very uncomfortable with accepting christianity or this Path. I felt the bible was not welcoming me just cuz I have the female reproductive organs. And frankly, at that time, I knew I deserved better.
Today as a young 30-something (grin), I know much better---it is all allegorical, metaphorical. I re-read some of the NT and the KJV recently, and I made my peace with that, and can see "beyond" that......but still isn't for me.

If you read the Song of Songs you will see the love a man should show a bride. Also in the New Testamant It says "men love your wives" it goes into great detail on men should be willing to die for their wife.

Its too bad you only selected scriptures and NON scriptures (Thomas Aquinas & Ecclesiasticus) but did not show how Christianity liberated the woman to a place of importance and equality.
1 Corinthians 7:2-4 But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. 3The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.
Ephesians 5:27- 28
In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church—
Galatians 3:27-29
for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Romans 16:11-13
11Greet Herodion, my relative. Greet those in the household of Narcissus who are in the Lord. 12Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, those women who work hard in the Lord. Greet my dear friend Persis, another woman who has worked very hard in the Lord. 13Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me, too.

Brainwashing to accept this literature. If someone said don't accept and you can remain a Christian and/or retain a covenant with God, would you accept the invitation?
