it sounds like she wants everyone to know that they can wear sandals-flipflop style and spaghetti straps. generally these are a no-no when it comes to weddings. but she also mentions the semi-formal which means she doesn't want men showing up in board shorts and gals in their jeans. wear your red skirt! pair it w/ a white or cream colored top w/ cap sleeves. wear white/cream flip flops. use red jewelry and bag to tie it together. go to lanebryant.com for some options. you will look great!

A nice sundress for a daytime wedding would be great but since you have a red skirt~~~I would find a nice sheer or short sleeve blouse maybe with some type of beading~the key to summer semi-formal is color~~make sure and carry a nice, beaded bag (looks dressier) and a nice heel.
Cocktail or knee length would be appropriate for any summer semi-formal~ a full length would be for a evening or more formal occasion.
The red skirt could be paired with any nice top.

To me summer semi-formal would be a nice skirt and top or a dress. It's not fancy whatsoever, but not casual like jeans and a t-shirt. I would wear a white collared shirt, quarter length sleeve with the skirt you have. That should work great. Red is a cute color too.

Wear a dressy summer top to go with your skirt. They call it 'summer semi-formal' because they want you to wear something nice but also keep cool at the same time.

No red skirt please! Wear some light colored long skirt or slacks with a fashionable light blouse. A pastel colored mid-calf lenght dress would do also. Accesorize with a pretty summer bag, chunky seasonal jewelry and extra-fancy footwear.
Semi-formal means: no suits, no black, nothing sparkly and flashy, no full lenght dresses. Definetly NO JEANS!
Good luck! You'll look fenomenal.

A short sleeve gauzy hippie(short as you can go) summer dress in the color most becoming to you. On line is good shopping is good...places like mervins and dillards have great plus size summer casual dresses. Lane Bryant is a great store. Throw on a cute hat if you like.

There is no such thing as summer semiformal, the bride made it up to be cute, nice of her to confuse everyone. Go to Lane Bryant and get a nice floaty shirt with beads or lace or something to go with your red skirt. Good luck

beautiful for backyard events or dinner events yet i'd search for a gown in lace or chiffon (completely coated) for a evening wedding ceremony and doubtless decide on a competent coloration for the extra formal evening adventure. lovable footwear, btw, and that i respect the way you've the mint footwear and the blush seize!! : }
