After 12:00 noon you need to add each hour on top of 12:00. So 9:30pm would be 21:00. Hence your 15:27 is 3:27pm.

The first 12 hours are counted as normal. Midnight is 0 hour the 1,2......12 noon. Then 1pm is 13, 2pm is 14, 3pm is 15 on around until 24 hrs. This is midnight.

The 24 hr system is the best system for telling time. Eliminates any confusion and is easier to determine the time in far away time zones.

In the time zones Grennich Mean time is called Z or Zulu time zone. If you live on the East coast of the U.S. you are 4 time zones away or behind Zulu time 4 hours. If I was your boss and ordered a meeting a 1800 Z, then you would simply subtract 4 from 18 and know the meeting is at 1400 hrs. Thats 2pm.

When Zulu time is after midnight and your time zone is before midnight, simply add the number after midnight to 24 then subtract your hours from that. Ie. I send you an email telling you to meet me at a club a 0200 Z. Since this is 2 hrs past midnight simply add 2 to 24 =26. 26-4=22. 2200 hrs is 10pm.

If you are interested what time it is in Iraq then add +4 hrs to the GMT also called UTC time. Since the Eastern time zone is -4 hrs, Central is -5 hrs, Mtn is -6 hrs, Pac. is -7 hrs. To figure time in the other direction simply convert your time (hrs only) to 24 hr system. Right now is 13 hrs in cent. zone. I add 5 hrs to my hrs and it is 18 hrs utc. Add the +4 hrs for Iraq and you have 22 hrs in Iraq. That is 10 pm in Iraq.

If you would like to change your clock on the computer to display the 24 hr format: START>CONTROL PANEL>double click DATE, TIME, LANGUAGE AND REGIONAL TIMES>CHANGE THE FORMAT OF NUMBER,TIMES AND DATES.>REGIONAL OPTIONS TAB>CUSTOMIZE BUTTON>TIME TAB>go down to TIME FORMAT window. Put your cursor between the small h and the : then delete the small hh and replace with HH then go down and delete the AM and PM. click apply and ok. Now your time will display in the 24 hr format. In a short time you will have it down pat and won't want to stop using it.
