Oils are more respected because they been around for hundreds of years and all the master painters used them. Acrylics are pretty new but they don't have the acidic qualities that destroy the canvass over years, so when you use oils you have to make shure the canvas is primed before you use them.
Different medium different qualities.

you'll get reasonable from both oil and acryllic, it truly is all about shading, highlights and little information. the biggest distinction, as a lot of people have already reported even with the actuality it truly is that acryllic is a a lot swifter drying medium. Oils take about 6 months to totally remedy, so that you'll be able to paint something, come back a week later and the paint continues to be moist. if you're searching to color with more suitable overlapping hues and larger of a drybrush technique, than I reccommend acryllic paints. Oils on the different hand resources an fairly translucent look it is also acceptable in landscapes. the different ingredient you need to look at is how the paint cleans up. Acryllics are dazzling because you are able to skinny the paint with water and cleanup in straightforward words calls for water. Oils want to be wiped clean with mineral spirits or turpentine.

Oil is more versatile, it can easily be removed and re-painted...but it needs a longer time to dry. Acrylic: once it is on the canvas, it will stay there and correcting it or painting over it will be a problem. I have done both...and have finally decided to stick with oil, it is somehow more attractive.
You will find your own preference, just experience a lot with paints.
Good luck.

Both work just fine, but I personally prefer oil paints. Sure, they take forever to dry, but in the end I think it's worth it.

it all depends o how much time you got to let it dry, the relative dust of the envirement and most importantly, the "look" of the painting itself... acrylic will stand up to dust and dry faster, but alot of visual effects arent repeatable with it
