You can work out your body mass index, which is:
703 * weight in pounds / ((height in inches) squared)
This means that your BMI is:
703 * 140 / (72 * 72) = 18.99
Ideally for a guy it should be between 20 and 25. So yes you are technically skinny. Go eat something.

Don't Listen to these people I'm 5'11" and 138 and i'm just fine!
The Skinny ones are the ones that are wellll hung!
An individual is considered underweight if their BMI is less than 18.5.
A BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 is considered a "normal" weight.
A BMI of 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight
Your BMI is 19 which is Normal

Skinny. I would pick up a burger and then pump some iron for a few months. You'll start to notice a difference in the next few weeks.

i have a 20 year old son who is 6'2" and is maybe 130lbs soaking wet. his waist is about the same as yours although he wears his pants looooow on the hips with a belt. i have to get larger waist to get the added length fro his height. yes he looks pretty skinny, but he is young! he should pretty much be finished in the height department(i hope) and will now start to fill out. don't worry yourself you are perfectly normal if a little under weight. try adding in more protein and maybe some high protein shakes.i buy my son protein powders, they come in all kinds of flavors. try the soy protein powders they seem to be better so i've read. don't go the junk food and soda route as that will be bad weight gain. even young people can have high colesterol and high blood pressure from bad dietary habits.remember if you have a fast metabalism like my son you will easily burn off some of the weight you put on. just eat well and don't skip meals. you might also try some light weight training to bulk up some muscle. you can build up to heavier weights as you add gain weight so it isn't all burned off during the exercise. (maybe have a high protein shake before working out) you can suppliment(not replace) meals with protein shakes. like in between meals have a protein shake. you might want to check all this with your doctor first if you are able. this is all pretty mild stuff though so you should be fine, although if you have a soy allergy try protein powders made without soy. i make my sons shakes with whole 2% fat milk. you can use 1% or even a soy milk, depends on your taste. some powders say to use water and i still use milk. i also make alot of fruit smoothies in the blender and if like my son you don't like veggies you can add some to the fruit and you will not taste it, but you will get the benefits. you can also go on www.ask.com and for a minimal fee of around $5 ask them what is suggested for a daily calorie intake for you to acheive consistant weight gain. you will probably have to supply your age, height, current weight.
alot of young men get height before they fill out so i'd say you are normal. a full grown man of 6' should be around 180 to be in the correct weight range. if you are under 25 years old don't worry you'll fill out. hope this helps. you can email me if you have

It depends on whether you're male or female and your age. If you're an adult male. You're fine. Other people may find you too skinny but your bmi (body mass index) is 19 which is normal. If you're an adult female your bmi is about 22 which is even better.
If you want to gain weight eat more protein, lift weights and drink more water and milk.

My son was very thin when he was a teen, it seems possibly you were born 1988 - so your 18?...your still growing, and of course the height makes you seem way slim, but don't worry hon, you'll build bulk, it'll happen, life has a way of taking over, as long as your happy and healthy...who cares what your size is.....
And if it bothers you to be "Slim"...start adding fat to your diet, buttermilk - drink that instead of reg milk, drink nutrition drinks with your meals for bulk, add "malt" to your milk, or ice cream....
Your fine.........
