Many things can cause your cat to lose weight that is not much concern. The only two serious illnesses that can cause a cat to lose weight that I can think of if they are still eating well is cat leukemia, and cat diabetes. In either case if I were you, I would take your cat to the vet to have him/her checked out. Hope this helps.

Outdoor cats are prone to worms. Get a wormer from your pet store or discount store. They usually come in liquid form, use as directed. If this doesn't work the cat needs to go to the vet.

If he seems healthy but looks scraggly and such, it's a summertime thing. My cats look all skinny and stuff for the summer. It is normal for them like ourselves to have a rather diminished appetite when the weather is hot.

has he been vaccinated against feline leukemia? if he has been bitten by another cat he could have caught this or it could be another type of problem such as trouble with his thyroid. If eating fine but losing weight have a vet check him

Most probably, your cat has worms so give him a de-worming tablet and see if he becomes better. If he does not, then you ought to take him for a check-up.
