Ok, so my older sister just came out of the closet, she's a lesbian, now my step-mom, her mom, wants her to be straight, not beacause she has anything against gays, but because she wants granchildren, does that seem selfish to you? The woman has four other children besides my sis.

What makes them think your sis won't have kids? I know a very nice guy who was raised by his two mommies...and for all the...well, you know who you are...out there...being raised by gays has not made him gay...It's not contagious! It is quite straight...well adjusted and very considerate of women.

I don't agree with the lifestyle personally but to each is own your step mom is probably still going through shock. you know what there are plenty of lesbians that have children this is not the end of the world for your sister or her mother.
At the end of the day that's her moms a mommy and I don't know my mommies get mad only for a Little while they always come around.
Tell your sister to be patient she just dropped a big bomb on her mom.

Well someone needs to explain to step mom that there are other options to your sister having children without actually being with a guy. I think it is selfish I mean some people don't even want to have children.

That does seem a bit selfish. The more I think about it, it's probably not even the real reason she wants her to be straight. She may not really have anything against gays, but still doesn't want her daugher to be gay. She will just have to learn to deal with the fact that her daughter is gay. Eventually she will probably accept it.

Yes, it is very selfish. She may just be saying that to mask how she really feels. She probably doesn't have anything against gay people as long as it isn't in her family. She is probably only thinking of herself and what others will say.....Tell your sis to keep her head up, it is after all HER life.

Well first of all, Your mother seems to be a homophobic to gays and "LEZBIANS" and I'm hoping your older sister just didn't decide one day to become a dyke right? Was she born with this illness or did she decide one day to become that? BECAUSE NO ONE can become something its imposible to do that it's a chemical in the brain that triggers it don't become something....So yeah tell your sister it's all right to go that way, Women rule anyways =D

It does seem selfish. Just because she's a lesbian doesn't mean she can't have kids. She could use a sperm donor, or adopt, there's many ways. If she wants them.

Consider why your sister is going an laterante route. Maybe she needs to examine why the norm does not work for her. As for mom, your sexual orientation is not up for discussion and people should not have children to supply grandchildren to their parents.

yes she is being selfish,if she want grandchildren she can get it by the other 4 children.tell yr mum to let her live her life as she want.
