If I want to use the topical sentence(s) of a news article, is there a part of that article I may publish in a book without asking for copyright permission?
Can I publish the first paragraph of any article without a request?

If you were't PUBLISHING it...then I think you would be ok with that.....but when you publish something, you have to have the writer's ok before you can use it as your own work

If I remember correctly.

you need to use passages or parts of an editorial, see you later as you cite the source. in case you choose to reprint the finished article, you will would desire to get permission from the author/writer.
