Forget the rewards! This will only work for a short period of time and then come to be expected. First of all, let it go for awhile. If he knows you really want him to do this he will resist because it is one thing in his life that he has full control of.

Put him in clothing that he can easily take off and on BY HIMSELF. Get him some big boy underwear. Get him a step stool so he can easily get onto the toilet. When you see him doing the "potty dance" say "It looks like you need to use the bathroom." Don't force him to go, he will resist. If you see that he has soiled himself (#1 or #2), say "It looks like you need to change." Nothing more than that. Let him take care of the clean up. He can remove the soiled clothing, wash them, put them in the laundry, wipe, put on clean clothing. It will take a few tries, but he will soon learn that it is much easier to use the bathroom. Good luck!

I don't know if I will be of any help, because I have a girl. When she was 2 y/o, this is what I did. While we were at home, I let her wear regular undies. If she had an accident, I would tell her that it was OK, and that next time she needed to try to go to the bathroom. Sometimes kids are to busy playing or whatever that they don't even really worry about getting up to go to the bathroom. But I never really did punish her or anything just because she wet her undies. When we went some where, I put a pull-up on her. She also wore a pull-up at night while sleeping. During the day, I constantly asked her if she had to pee pee or stinky. Sometimes she did, then other times she didn't, if she didn't, I would say, lets at least try even if you don't have too. This continued for about a year, and she was fully trained when she was 3 y/o. Like I said, I don't know if it would help because I have a girl. But I think that if I had a boy for my second child, that I would consider doing the same technique/approach as I did with my girl. Thanks, and I hope this is at least a little helpful to you.

Jamie, we have 3 boys, 6, 4, and 3. The younger two potty trained together. The older was nearly 4 before he got the hang of it and it was very frustrating!! I think he was just lazy - he wanted nothing to do with the potty. He didn't mind sitting in his poop either! I don't have a magic answer for you I just wanted you to know that I feel your pain.

On the other side of the coin our youngest (a girl) is potty training herself at 19 months. She goes on the potty in the morning, after nap and runs to the bathroom some times during the day. What a difference!!

Well I dont know if this helps, but I recently started potty training my son, he's 2 1/2. I had a hard time also. What I did, was I tried not going anywhere for the whole time I was potty training him. I also took him to the bathroom every 5 mins., then every 10 mins. and so forth. So, far it's working. Hope this helps. (Oh, and dont get mad if he gets wet or he BMs himself this will only make it harder on the both of you)

You need to make a potty chart. Let him put a sticker on for each time that he goes pottty. Make a huge deal of it. The kids love it and are so excited. When the chart is filled up, let him go to Wal-Mart and pick out a toy. I have potty trained 2 children of my own and several children that I have baby-sat and have been successful with all.

Hang in there. Boys are harder than girls to potty train. Especially if he just turned 3. You may want to try making a big deal when he does go like, cheering him on afterwards. There's also a potty book for kids out too.

You can't force them to toilet trian...they have to be ready. My son is 2 and only occsionally show interest in going potty. Boys are the hardest to train because they aren't really interested. Keep offering a sit on the potty. Try using a reward system if he'll go on the potty

You have to make him sit in the potty seat at fixed intervals to make him understand that potty has to be done there and look for subtle signs when he indicates the urge to do potty! Be patient and he would soon be trained!!

It's OK.. I have a 2 yr old granddaughter and 14 mth old grandson..and we are doing the potty thing..WE do the peepee dance. I know it sounds crazy but it's working.. Also I have a jar of gummy worms and bears in the laundry closet. If we go pee pee that's one gummy bear..if we go poopie that's a gummy worm. As far as mommy is concern don't be so frustrated he can sense that too. Here is the pee pee song.." We go pee pee in the potty" (x2);and when he finishes;(clap) "Yes, you went pee pee (poopie) in the potty (while shaking your hips). I know it sounds crazy but my grandson, the youngest has that poopie thing pretty good.. he likes the gummy worms. Good Luck
