Me and my girlfriends are having a "hen" party this weekend. We will be having margaritas and coke and brandy with our finger foods--all at my sons expense! He doesn't know this and he never will. He thinks I gave it away or poured it out. Am I wrong?

I plan to talk to my son tonight when he comes home from work about his drinking habit. Also, my husband and I plan to take him to an AA meeting tonight, so he can meet people who let alcohol control their lives. Boy, will he be surprised!

And for those of you who are wondering, no, I am not an alcoholic, nor is my husband! He doesn't drink at all, and I am strictly a social drinker--maybe once a month.

Good for you!. Party-Harty on his expense!. After you've enjoyed yourself, then tommorrow confront him with having it in his possession in the first place. At the age of 17,he should be thinking about graduation next year, and should'nt be drinking alcohol at all. Who bought it for him? (then again) a lot of liquior stores will sell alcoholic beverages, without asking for an ID. (Brandy and Tequila are expensive drinks too!). Time for a heart to heart talk, about his drinking habits.

I would ask him where the rest of it is!!!
Then I would talk to him in a non confrontational way and see if it was a one off or if its getting to be a habit
Keep in mind he's almost legal so hes not going to go for the hard approach but talk to him about the risks and dangers and cons of drinking and the repercussions if you do decide to drink. Also make it clear that ( even if you cant control what he does outside of your home ) drinking or alcohol will not be tolerated under your roof . No I dont think your wrong to drink it on his behalf! Why waste good drink your of age!!

No, you're not wrong he's too young anyways and I'm not saying this could happened but you never know...what if the cops came through and searched the house then you could get in trouble for permitting underaged drinking. Your son is the wrong one, and last time I checked you're the boss...under your house, live by the rules.

You should have a talk with your son about his alcohol consumption, send him to a counselor. He should not be drinking that much alcohol at that age.

Yes you are wrong. He will perceive this as hypocrisy and scorn any advice or instruction you give him in the future.
Do not think it will not get back to him. Your pride in your 'cleverness' will give the tale legs.
I hope he has someone else to be a role model.
