It takes a very special man to date a woman with kids, and it's not going to be just any guy. Some guys are afraid to be a father figure, while others are too selfish. A MAN will know that just because a single mother wants to date doesn't mean she's looking for a father for her children. As a single mom, you have an awesome responsibility when choosing a man. Good luck to you.

instant daddy syndrome.

some guys don't mind but most don't want the instant responsability that come when dating a woman with a family of her own. The kids will always come first and that's a tough position when he wants all the attention.

find an older guy.

There are a number of reasons. Some guys aren't ready to possibly become fathers(step), they don't like kids, don't want kids, they want only your attention, they could think you've "been around" and don't want to be involved in that. When it comes to guys and dating women with kids, you've got to find a certain kind of guy. Guys who don't want anything to do with a woman with kids are bums plain and simple. The guys that don't mind if you have kids have more to offer I guess.

The same applies the other way. I was a single parent of 2 and found women aprehensive with that. It all boils down to the attraction to each other. Everything eles that comes with it I would consider a bonus.

If he doesn't have any children, kids are very scary! Especially because he is going to feel like he has to impress his girlfriend every time he interacts with them. The kids are basically going to decide for her whether or not the relationship is going to work out... that's a big deal!

Maybe coz he feels that if the relationship has to be going somewhere he might have to handle the added responsibility of the kids, which he is perhaps not ready for. And also he has to get the kids to like him.

I've dated & gotten close to several women with kids. The kids usually add so many problems to the relationship that it's usually more work than it's worth.

Because some guys never want to grow up and they dont need to grow up with someone elses' kids. If they cant take care of themselves how would you expect them to take care of your kids? Plus the fact of a fear of an already made family scares them off.
