I say go to the doctor NOW!
When in doubt seek professional help. If you wait, it might be too late. If you and it turns out to be nothing, well then you've gained peace of mind.
Honestly, I wouldn't fool around with pregnancy. This is your life and your baby's life we're talking about. Don't fool around - just go! (Why wouldn't you???)
People online who are answering your questions aren't certified, don't know your history, can't examine you - I say get peace of mind and go to the doctor today!
You could have all sorts of things happening to you. Now, I don't want to scare you so just get to a doctor if you are feeling pain and are concerned.

Take it easy hon, even if the baby came now it would probably be just fine. At 34 weeks the only thing they would worry about are the lungs, they would give you steroids during delivery to help them mature and the baby would be in a ventilator for a week or so, but they would be fine and likely not have any lasting side effects.

lay down on your left side and relax. i thought i was in labor at 37 weeks but it turned out i had a urinary tract infection and whenever i had a braxton hicks contraction it felt like labor. ouch! if your baby is born early there is a very good chance it will be just fine. chances are you are just experiencing braxton hicks that are a bit more powerful that usual, but if you start to bleed or your water breaks or the pain just gets really unbearable, go to your doctor right away. the last thing you need is to have a 6 week early baby at home with no doctors. if you have any reason to think you need to see a doctor go with it. your baby is not worth the risk. yeah, it's a bit embarassing to go to the hospital and be sent home, believe me , i know, but better safe than sorry when it comes to a potentially premature baby.

You will be fine.....I had my son at 28 weeks. He was a preemie and was only 2lbs 14 oz. Now he is 13 and 95 pounds. He is great. So if you are 34 weeks, your baby is pretty much ready. The Doctor can tell you if the baby is big enough to be delivered. My girl was 2 and half weeks early and she was 7lbs 4 oz. Everything will be fine....thank positively. Good Luck.

Pains are not the biggest worry ....... painless tightening of the stomache and discharges in which are not normal white color ...... any pinkish fluids ....... and at 34 weeks you should be perfectly fine and so should the baby ..... when they become 15 min apart at a constant (4 per hour) call your obgyn and see if they wish for you to go to the hospital ........ dont lift anything that you shouldnt ...... if you are really worried about it lay down on your left side and put a pillow between your knees and relax for about an hour ..........(mother of 1 boy 1 girl and currently 32 weeks 2 days pregnant)

Call your OB now! They may try to delay birth.
Most babies born at 34 weeks do well, but will have to stay in the Newborn ICU for a few weeks. Some do have complications with breathing if the lungs have not matured.

Lay down and put your feet up. Of they go away they are probably brakten hicks. I f they comtinue then get in a warm bath and relax. If they stay or get stronger, or your water breaks then go into the hospital. Your baby might have a litte trouble breathing if born this ealy. But he should do pretty good. He is past the really scary early times.

These days there is a lot they can do to enable the premature baby's survival--they can even give you a hormone to stop premature labor (if that is what you're having).
If you are feeling pains, you should call the doctor and see what he or she tells you to do. You should do what another answerer said, and lie down and relax.
When my oldest daughter was born 5 weeks early she was fine--and a full 6 pounds--so I was able to take her home right away. Good luck, and congratulations. :)

Ever heard of Braxton Hicks? They are false pains that are similar to contractions, you mayu be having those. If your baby comes now, it will be premature, but you are VERY close to 40 weeks, so the baby may be healthy enough to survive and be well. Hope everything works out. I think you are far enough along to have Braxton Hicks, check out what they are and then you'll see what I mean!

The baby would be fine in all likelyhood. even though 40 weeks is a 'normal' pregnancy, anything beyond 36 weeks is considered full term. Babies can live from birth from a s little as 23 weeks gestation. No worries, everything will be fine.
