You will need to loose about 2 pounds per week, which can be a healthy amount. Honestly the best way is good ol' fashion healthy diet and exercise. Decide which activites you like, such as walking, aerobics, etc, and do these at least 4 times per week for 30 minutes. Depending on how motivated you are, you may want to find a work-out buddy.
As for diet, eat fast food as little as possible. Fast food is the easiest way to add unwanted calories. Eat healthy meals and use proper portion size (each serving of meat, veggies, etc. should only be as big as the palm of your hand.) The best advise is to be honest with what you are eating and maybe write down everything so that you are not grabbing snacks here and there that you think are harmless.
Check with your doctor before starting a drastic lifestyle change and keep in mind any special issues you may have with your health. Hope this helps.

First let's define the word diet
according tio Wikipedia, an online dictionary/encyclopedia
1) diet is the sum of the food consumed by an organism. Proper nutrition for a human requires vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fuel in the form of carbohydrates and fats. Imbalances between the consumed fuels and expended energy results in either starvation or excessive reserves of adipose tissue, or body fat. Poor intake of various vitamins and minerals can lead to diseases like scurvy or iodine deficiency.
Changing the dietary intake or going on a diet can change the energy balance and increase or decrease the body fat of a body. Some foods are specifically recommended, or even altered, for conformity to the requirements of a diet, and are frequently labeled "diet foods".
So you have been on a "diet" since birth, and if you pay for your regualr food then you are paying for your "Diet" already. Based on your question you have been paying to get fat, but now you want to lose weight for free. Are you going to stop buying food and eating? That's the only FREE Diet and the end result is the trimming of the word diet to die. Oops thats not going to work.
So what you need to do is decide how you are going to change your spending habits. What foods and or supplements are you going spend your money on.
Couple of choices here. First and probably most appealing to you is simply to buy foods that are low in calories, sugars, fats, and salt. Yet high in protien, vitamins, fiber, minerals and other nutrients, Stay away from fast food restaraunts, pre-packed (heat and eat) foods, sweets, soda's, foods with high fat content like beef. Go for the fresh foods and prepare your own meals.
Plan on eating 5 or 6 times a day, 3 meals and 2 or 3 snacks. Drinks lots and lots of water.
Oh ya and Exercise, Exercise Exercise
A second alternative is to look at the meal replacement plans offered by various companies. Most of these and the really good ones are sold thru network marketing, and not in retail stores. For 2 very important reasons. First is follow-up. Buy from a store and you are on your on, buy from a network marketer and if they are reputable and most are, the person you buy from will take a personal interest in your success. The obvious reason is they want you to refer others. On the surface this looks like a large added expense.
In reallity it is often less expensive. Take into consideration that you are REPLACING two meals, so you are simply spending the money you already spend on "diet" in a differant place. THe other thing to keep in mind is you are typically pre-purchasing 60 meals. Think of it as going to the store and buying a months worth of groceries at once.
The advantage to this type "diet" is that all the guess work and thinking are done for you. The shakes and/or complimentary supplemnents are formulated to provide you with the essential nutritional balance you need. while reducing what you don't need.
Personally I lost 30 pounds in 2 months by using a meal replacement program like this. More impressive, everyone I know who has followed such a program has lost weight and really feels better.
I hope this helps in your decision as to how you will lose your weight

I do it all the time. It is easy. Eat mostly good foods to fill you up and eat three times a day. You can have cake and ice cream sometimes, but not everyday. This diet seems to work good for me. Also remember to eat till you are satisfied and not until you are stuffed. I also have a cup of tea and a few cookies before I go to bed. I'm never hungry, so I like the diet. It doesn't even seem like a diet. Just rmember three times a day to eat fruits, vegetables, salads and drink ice tea unsweatened or diet soda. In the morning make sure you have cereal. I usually have two bowls or egg beaters with dried toast and jelly.

Don't try a fad diet. you have plenty of time to lose weight the right way, 30 lbs in 3 1/2 months is totally doable. Try just a lower calorie, lower fat, balanced diet combined with exercise at least 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week.
You can do it.

A couple of years ago, I lost 33 pounds by walking an hour a day 4 days a week. I ate primarily chicken, salads, and vegetables- either steamed or raw. I lost it in about 8 weeks and I never felt bad. I drank a lot of water.
I have heard that starting your day with 8 ozs of water with apple cidar vinegar (yuck!) followed by a garlique pill boosts your metabolism as well.

Begin writing down everything you eat in a day and the amount of calories in it. You can find the calorie amounts on the package, or many websites also have calorie listings of various foods. You may be surprised at how much you are taking in that you aren't even aware of. Once you establish a baseline calorie intake, begin limiting your daily calorie amount. The amount you need depends on your age, weight, gender, etc. There are many nutrition websites that will help you find a calorie amount to set. As I am not a physician or licensed nutritionist, you should consult one of these to set your goal. The main thing is making yourself aware of how many calories you are taking in and to limit these to an amount that you can burn. Exercise will help you burn more calories as well.
