It could be a number of things. The scabs may be from the cat scratching his ears. Make sure he doesn't have ear mites. You will be able to tell by swabing out the ear. You will get black gunk out of it and it usually has a bad odor to it. If he has it there are drops you can get at any pet store. You just flush out the ear and clean it about twice a day. Or you can take him to the vet. I always recommend taking you pets to the vet when something is wrong but sometimes people just dont have the money. It also could be an ear infection. That you have to go to the vet for. There is nothing over the counter that will fix that problem. It very well could have been a cat fight as well. Good luck!

No, sounds like ear mites. If the ears look dirty inside, its ear mites, and the scabs are probably from scratching. I'm not sure if you need to see a vet or if medicine is available at a pet or feed store.

Sounds like ear mites to me, and it's pretty cheap to get a little dropper/squeeze tube of medicine to put in ears daily..no biggie, it clears up quickly. But if you don't take care of it, it does get worse.

Good luck!

Maybe, or if he is an outside cat, he may have just gotten into a fight with another cat. No big deal, they will heal and go away :)
