Actually, if you have ever dropped a match into a gas jug, you found out that it just puts the match out. Liquid gas will not burn, (& the fumes are too rich just above the liquid to ignite) you'll have to let the fumes get to the right consistency before you will be able to ignite it. However, I don't recommend that you try it, because your insurance company is not going to like it if you should light the match when the gas fumes are rich enough to ignite. I can also tell you that there definatly will not be a big boom. Burning gasoline only causes and explosion when the vapors are contained in a small area, there is not enough room for the vapors to expand as they burn so they make more room by blowing things apart. I once took a two liter Coke bottle full of gas & set it on fire. The results were tree-top high flames, so the flames would definetly be taller than you house, and you would burn your house down. I wouldn't try to put a gasoline fire out with a water hose. That much gas would require more water than most fire departments could supply. This would technically be a class B fire so you would need a class be extinguisher. CO2 extiunguishers & dry chemical extiunguisers would work best, but you will need a lot. Hope this helps.

The odds are that you would die, and your house would burn. There would be enough gasoline vapor to most likely cause an explosion. You may get lucky and not have the house explode, but I would not want to risk it.
A water hose would not help.
This is assuming that you light the match near the bathtub. If you fill a bathtub with gas, and then go far enough away, lighting a match would just burn your fingers.

I think it will bring down the house and another two houses beside your house. HEY!!! are you crazy, I always wonder about how people have such thoughts. I am excited to know why didn't you get the idea of lighting the tube when you are having a nice bath in the same tube, buddy?
When I was a kid I too had 100 hundreds of such evil thoughts, I use to watch F1 and use to wait for the cars to crash, I use to enjoy it like anything. Now even at 20 I watch Sports Disaster on AXN regularly, I download number of such video from internet.

Flash combustion...unless the room was pressurized so that the gasoline did not give off vapors. Then, it is entirely possible that the match would douse when smothered by the liquid gas.

Scary thing to think of.
What is also scary is that people used to use a type of gas to clean their bathtubs and would occasionally have horrible results.

Well, gas vapors burn, so as long as your bath tub isn't pressurised and it isn't hot, the match should just go out. The vapors might catch, if there are enough to ignite.
Answer: The match will go out. Don't believe everything you see in the movies.
