yes, americans are fat and lazy. They get in their cars to drive 3 blocks to the store. Eventually, we will all have individual scooters that we ride everywhere, even inside. Our cars will have ramps that let you drive your scooter up into your car so that you don't even have to get out of your scooter to use your car. Eventually, over centuries, our legs will grow weaker and weaker and we won't even be able to walk anymore. Legs will become vestigal organs. Our thumbs, however, will grow smaller and more flexible in order to be able to control the scooters better.

Airport Moving Walkway

There are different reasons why people don't walk on those belts. Some people are just lazy, but there are also people who have physical problems and need to rest or walk as little as possible, although they might not necessarily need a wheelchair. Some people can also be really worn out from travelling and just not have much energy left, so they appreciate being able to rest a little while still approaching their destination.

Not everybody is in a hurry and there's no need for everyone to rush ahead. If you're in a hurry or prefer walking on those things, that's fine, that's what the left side is for. The people who want to or need to rest can stand on the right side. Getting annoyed over that is just silly. Just wait till you get old or injured and experience what it's like to not be able to do everything you want as easily anymore. Maybe then you'll understand that those who are different from you are not necessarily lazy.

Well, the simple answer is sheer laziness. However, keep in mind that many people are traveling when they're at the airport, so they are tired and weary and are probably enjoying just standing. Plus, not everyone feels the need to race through the airport shoving others out of their way.

Have you ever been to DFW airport? Man, that is a big place. They have trains to move you around the terminals. After carrying luggage and babies and tickets all over the place, and trying to sleep on a long flight with turbulence, and eating airplane food, and standing in 3 security lines, and being in a different time zone, sometimes it's nice to get to stand still while the walkway gets you on your journey.

Because the walkway is moving for you. That's the purpose. You don't see people climbing the stairs on an esculator, everyone stands still. If you want to walk, why walk on the "moving" walkways? Walk on the sideWALK. The moving walkway does NOT get you to your destination any faster. I've tested it several times. The moving walkway is for one to rest, relax, just chill for a minute.

Some of us "Americans" are handicapped. Just because we don't use a wheelchair or cane doesn't mean we can walk long distances without pain, weakness, or damage. I'm slated for total knee replacement for both knees once I reach a certain age, but at most I wear a brace or two under my slacks...but every step I take is more damage to my knees.

their is a reason why those walkways are in airports and in them parks and such on.... u tend to get tired so the walkways are convenient..its not being lazy just saves some energy...i remember one time we were leaving universal studios i didn't see one person walk on the walkways just for the fact of the matter that everyone was tired of walking all day and they needed a break...not lazy in my book!!

It's a convenient way to rest and catch your breath while still moving toward your goal. That, or people (not just Americans - those walkways are in European airports too) are lazy.

No they are not.

People who want to stand on moving walkways need to stand to the right. People who want to walk on moving walkways need to be on the left.

It even says so on the conveyor. Try reading for a change!

it's easier then carrying your luggage...I think that ALL sidewalks should be motorized!! Could you imagine? You walk out your door, and just stand there, and before you know it, you're at work! How great would that be?

I say, if the ground is going to move for you, why would you want to walk?
