I assume you have bird feeders around, the only way out of this is to remove all food sources for about 2 wks, then they will all leave and you can place your feeders again. Its the food they're after and yes most other little birds are scared off by them.

Black birds or crows (or they may even be grackles (sp?)) are pest birds. There are lots of ways to get rid of them, some more effective than others.
If you want to scare them away:
-scarecrow (its called that for a reason) with lots of movement, and possibly noise
-A big dog, or even a cat that has a fondness for chasing birds
If you want to permanently eliminate them:
-Shotgun! of course for y'all that live in the city where you can't shoot things, this could be a problem
-Other than that, there may be some kind of traps or poison, but you run the risk of hurting/killing something else that you don't intend to.
