When I was young, quite a long time ago, it was a budget, basic, wholesome meal in a cheap cafe. The meat was usually sausages and the veggies were usually peas and mash(gravy was included of course). There might still be a few such cafe around the East End.

If your really asking a question about food, this is the middle class stereotypical American meal. Some type of meat served with two vegetables. Like meat loaf, macaroni & cheese, and peas. Or chicken, mashed potatoes and corn.
