I recommend next time using a little bit better of an Antivirus, if you need you can download the free version of AVG (See sources) and run that and it should take care of your antivirus problem. It wouldn't hurt to also run Housecall (See sources) to clean out your viruses - it is a lot better than AVG will ever be.

Now if you actually want to reinstall Windows Xp, as the question heading states, you are going to need yours or someone else's Windows XP disk. Then you will be able to run the setup from the disk.

Your XP disk will have a Recovery option. As I recall, there are two options--completely format (erase) your hard drive and start over or simply reload the operating system and programs, leaving user documents and files in tact. My new computer's XP had an option I didn't notice in my old XP version...when you boot up, you'll see a notice in the lower right corner telling you the key to hit for Recovery (or is it Restore)...this does the same thing.

Well restore it.. back to factory condition again and keep your brother off of it.. You can try to restore it back to another date and see if that will work.. also it might bespyware causeing the problems as they tend to freeze up computers to.. you should use Yahoo toolbar for anti spyware they have it on their tool bar. and If you must restore your comp completely do it,.. However make sure you have all the drivers in it.. sometimes the comp will work ok,, for a few days but then it won't because all drivers aren't installed..

Dear,

There are some viruses which cannot be removed.

Only way is to reinstall xp. first take up backup of your data and then install xp on any other drive than previously installed. then you can easily move data after new installation.
