I really wouldnt put a perm in their hair cause africans americans hair arent design to put perms in their hair cause it will cause breakage and hair lost!Im an afican american and i put a perm in my hair and the next thing you know i dont have all the hair i started off with! But i started keeping up with my hair what eva you do dont use motions perms!I use Soft and Beautiful! You might want to use a perm with differnt type of herbs like olive oil! They have a perm for african americans! And when you go get th e perm if you dont go tot the shop and get it done dont go tto the Chinese beauty Supply store thay are known for adding more unneeded and unhealthy chemicals in their perms and hair products! You have to oil their hair very often cause a perm causes their hair to be more dry than natural hair! Then you have to give them their touch up on time it cant be too late or too early cause one little mistake will mess up everything!then deep condition their hair! When you wash their hair deep condition it put some deep conditoner in it with some raw egg and mayonaigse! This helps to strength the hair! And dont use rubber bands unless you need to use it cause rubber bands cause breakage it might say less breakage on the pack age but they dont all rubber bands cause breakage! And dont tie their hair in such a tight grip in their hair that also causes breakage! And you also cant get their hair wet the first week of the perms neither can you oil it or add any othe rchemicals that was not added into the perm! You said they swim alaot so have them put shower caps on!Also the day befor e the perm you cant scratch you hair or it will cause the perm to burn! You can neither put any hot combs in your hair the week before the perm!

If your daughter is a swimmer then the perm will be a killer for her hair. Just leave it natural, put her hair in little buns or braids then wash her hair after every pool run, also once a week add egg to her shampoo to give her hair back the protein the cholorine will strip it with, then use some Mayo as an over night treatment once a week to give her hair a good deep conditioner treament this give the hair lots of moisture because it has lots of oil in, just remember to wash the Mayo out after treatment with shampoo then a 1 minute conditioner, but perming her hair will strip her of her natural oils, take away her baby growth and cause nothing but breakage.

If the girls swim a lot, then using a relaxer is surly the WRONG thing to do. That will cause uncontrolable breakage, too many chemicals and they do not mix well at all. Try just putting the girls hair in a ponytail and letting them have fun in the pool, but after, be sure to shampoo their hair and condition it well to restore some of the oils that the pool water takes away. After summer, if the girls want to have the straight look, try flat ironing their hair and wrapping it in a satin scarf at night. NO PERM, good luck.

I am Afr. A and i have never had a perm. If they swim alot i think that you should keep there hair braided in the summer. A hot comb never hurt. Perms break the hair off really bad don't do it.

For a perm: Use the optimum care in regular(depends how nappy your girls hair are). Have your girls where swim caps on their heads, because the chorline will dry out and damage there hair. Make sure your girls get trims every 6 weeks. A good conditioner and shampoo to use is pantene pro-v (the Bronze bottle for relaxed and natural)The same brand has a moisturizer, that's great.
-hope that helps

First, I would buy her a swim cap, tie her hair up underneath. Less contact with her hair the better. Does she have a perm already ? Perm won't make a difference. Chlorine is super drying for our hair. If she must have her hair "out" wash & deep condition EVERY TIME.

I'm a mommy and I do hair as well so my advice is just to keep it natural.Their hair is stronger in its natural state.Try braids and/or a swim cap.
This way you wont have hair to do everyday (yippie!!!) and it wont do so much damage.Just make sure when you wash it you use a conditioner with cholestorol to replenish.Pressing combs are a good deal too if they want straight hair later.

dont put a perm in a childs hair it will damage it, just braid their hair, wash the chlorine out, and let them have fun. Perms arent good for hair, my hair use to be down to my waist, until I put a perm in it.
