Not everyone is out to de-fraud DSS. Why are they so rude and treat you like a crimminal and not a person. Why is it they will help some out and give people who need help, such a hard time and why are they so rude. Not everyone who needs help or needs a question answer is stupid or having an attitude.

Also, I do work with the public...I treat people the way I want to be treated no matter their race, or social standing, rich or poor or their beliefs, Because I came in the world the same way every other human did and I'm going out the same way. Life is too short to be MEAN, UGLY and have MAJOR attitude towards everyone. It's a cop out to be rude, evil and think your above the rest of the world. You going to leave this world with what you came into it with NOTHING...Some people wake up mean and go to bed mean, there is no excuse for this.

Wow.
I'll answer this by saying that I try never to be rude. I have to be firm and direct sometimes to make sure the person I am speaking with understands what I am explaining. I try to keep in mind that the person calling me is going through one of the worst times in their lives and it could just as easily be me on the other side of my desk. I try to keep in mind that this case file on my desk is somebody's Grandmama and not just a number - doing this while tring not to become so emotionally involved that I can't do my job.
Now, as a government worker, I am human. I have feelings just like the perople calling me for assistance. If you call me and have an attitude, it hurts my feelings and my own attitude starts to show. HOWEVER, I can't speak for every worker out there. Sometimes people are just mean. They would be mean in any job they did - not just public service.
In dealing with any government agency, you ALWAYS have the right to speak with that person's supervisor if you feel the quality of service you received was sub-standard. If you don't get results from the immediate supervisor, you go on up the line. If you are dissastified with a decision made on your case (denial, termination, etc.), you received a form explaining the appeals process with the letter you got. The appeals process takes it out of the hands of the immediate caseworker and the file gets a look from the state level.
I hope you get your issue resolved -

They seem to hire the most obnoxious, uncaring sob's ever. They don't seem like they are there to help anyone. They always feel "put out" to do a little work in order to help those people who really need it. I feel that if they did some more check ups on people they would find the true frauds and make the system less prone to abuse. To those who are abused, go to a supervisor and tell them your complaints. I am sure you will be helped better and root out the rude. God bless.

Why don't you try working with the public, see how long you stay sweet and chipper? I work in insurance and have to deal with people yelling at me over rate increases and stuff all the time (usually stuff I have absolutely no control over). After a while, you just get jaded, you can't help it. I'm sure it's not meant to be any kind of personal attack on you. Don't take it too seriously. They probably just have "a case of the Mondays".

Think about this; you are not the first person they have dealt with. I am sure you are a very nice and respectable person, but the hundreds of people before you were probably ignorant and obnoxious.(not putting anyone down for needing help, i am talking about a specific group of people who refuse to help themselves) now you deal with people like that day in and day out for 8 hrs a day and see if you are still "friendly" to everyone.

It's human nature... When you deal with so many potential welfare cheats and deadbeats every day, you start thinking that everyone is the same.
I've found you can get a lot more done if you start out with a cheerful, friendly attitude, than if you go in with a chip on your shoulder.

You have to be hispanic, in order for them to treat you nice. YOu must be white. When we needed them, many years ago, it was the most degrading, and demeaning, experience we have ever had, and the hispanics seemed to fly right through the process. We are not racists, but it sure made us weary. It sucked. Get out of the system as soon as you can, and get on your own feet, that is all the advice I can give you

Because the call volume they get in a single surpasses just about every other business that has a customer service deparment. And what you are saying is true not everybody is a crimial but most of the people are.

Maybe because some of the people that work there are very arrogant, mean, and self-centered and need to be terminated from their job immediately! It is a shame people in that position are allowed to be like that. If I were you, if they were like that, I'd report it to their boss and if that doesn't do any good, I would file a lawsuit.

Why shouldn't they be? Its not like they have to be nice to you to keep you as a customer. There is NO incentive for them to be nice. They get paid squat and put up with any number of losers in a day. Perhaps there are the few, intelligent, truly needy people who go in there and get shafted but thems the breaks sometimes.

They have a government job they know that they can't loose it and they feel they are the answer to every problem in the world. The worst thing is when you give some shmuck some power.
