You shouldn't go on any date with anyone until you feel you are ready yourself. Having said that, how will you know when you are ready? At your age you don't need to make dating such a big deal. Have you ever gone anywhere with a bunch of your friends, boys & girls included, just to hang out & have fun, or to a movie, or a concert? If so, you could call those occasions dates. Try dating with male friends on the same basis, where there is no pressure to perform any of the dating rituals that peer pressure brings on, such as holding hands, & kissing etc, until you are ready for that. 16 is not too early to start dating in my opinion, but start slow, & do only what feels right for you. You have already demonstrated some very mature self awareness, & judgement in your statement about not wanting to wait until you are away at college. If you feel ready to start, then start, but don't worry about that 1st kiss, it doesn't have to happen with the 1st guy you date, or ever. Go ahead in small steps. If a guy asks you out on your 1st ever date & it sounds like it's going to be a big deal, suggest to him that he take you out for an afternoon to the beach, or ice cream, or something simple 1st so you can then decide if you can have fun with him on a more important date.
Good Luck & Have Fun

I didn't date till I was 19. Yeah there are some disadvantages to coming into the dating thing late. It makes you a little less experienced and you aren't as sure what to expect. But, by waiting until you are out of high school, you get to avoid a lot of the drama that is caused by dating at a younger age, and you don't run the risk of being "compared" by guys as much. I never had dates for my proms either and I turned out just fine! Don't worry about it, dating isn't everything. Focus on your education and worry about men later.

Don't worry about dating. Let me tell ya something, you could use the time you would spend dating someone to do better in school or get your life in order. Wait until your ready and wait until you find the right guy that makes your heart skip a beat. That's when you start dating.

It's right! Dating, kissing and *ex are all over rated! It's not even that great (well mostly it is). I would advise you to wait not only until college but wait for marriage! Your virginity is the greatest and most powerful gift/tool you have. Save it for someone who really deserves you.

Honey, I was 17 when I had my first kiss. I didn't have a serious boyfriend (or any for that matter) until I was 18. It was good for me. It gave me time to get to know myself. At 19, I married the man of my dreams and we a wonderful marriage and are now expecting our second child. Be patient and don't go out looking for love, it will find you. Use this time for yourself. You can't have a successful relationship unless you know who you are inside and out and until you know what you want out of life and out of your partner.

I think that is really sweet, I would love to have my first kiss again so I would understand it is a big thing that you should remember, don't rush in to it, just wait and it will be even better

It's no shame. Don't rush. Waith for the right time, the right person, etc. It will happen if you want it too.
Many young people have made the mistake of trying to grow up too fast.

that is basically 2 years distinction, it is definately no longer something. i do no longer see something incorrect with the age distinction! a minimum of you have been the two in extreme college ... even however i do no longer see something incorrect with a junior or senior going out with a modern graduate ... that is while this hollow gets bigger (i might say 3 or extra years) that adulthood stages are so diverse, then it is not so solid.
