It would be great for you to hook up with other youth who are doing something about stopping tobacco-use; you can learn how to help your dad and most importantly, help you feel like you are doing something about this. Here are some resources you can check out and also check with your American Lung Association and American Heart Association and they will be able to hook you up with an advocates group. Good luck!

Smoking is very addictive so it can be super hard. Even when he wants to quit, he will have to a very determined guy. But he can do it. Just try to explain to him all the things that are happening to his body from smoking. Put on a health video that describes what happens when he lights a cigarette. Pray that he'll stop smoking.

i know some ppl who smoke too and i think its disgusting and no matter how much i tell them, they won't stop. You should take him to a doctor so the doctor tells him what happens when he smokes and then ask what you can do, i think you should get rid of all his cigarettes and let him crave something other than that so he forgets about smoking. I saw a great smoking diet ad in a magazine, i wish i cut it out but it's somewhere in a magazine, it shows you step by step like how to stop being addicted to a cigeratte. So you should find a food or something he loves maybe chocolate or something, idk, and everytime he wants to smoke, give him that food and he'll chew it and enjoy it to satisfy his craving, thats what i read in it. Distract him as much as you can from that cigeratte!
Good Luck!

To convince your dad to stop smoking you have first of all got to stop assisting him in it. Then you must also make it a point to help him by showing him living examples of people who have died because of smoking. The internet could prove very useful for this. I hope it works for you. It certainly worked on my Cousin who stopped smoking three months ago.

Sorry. Smokers are stubborn. Even if the doc were to tell him he had lung cancer, he'd still smoke. Though I'm not a smoker, I can only go by what I've observed. Nicotine is a nasty habit. He'll quit when(or if he wants to). But going out of your way or picking your brain over the matter isn't going to solve ANYTHING. Trust me.

Hi lil bit, Im sorry but he's not going to stop unless he ready n willing to do so. I was a smoker till about 14 months ago, it took a scare to make me quit. Even if u convince him to give it up, he will only not smoke infront or around you. good luck

Well, Charlie, you i am assuming that you just had a broken SERPENTINE BELT when you consider that this model has a TIMING CHAIN in it! The WATER PUMP is driven from the SERPENTINE BELT, and you should use only a specific TOYOTA PUMP and TOYOTA COOLANT only! NO prestone or other normal JUNK will have to be used!>>>you without doubt have AIR in the cooling process that's not venting and causing you extra grief!>>>GET A MOTOR cleaning with GUNK ORANGE at a DIY auto wash to do away with all traces of street SALT< street kill and dirty engine parts! >>>Run the engine at 2000 RPM for approximately 5 minutes with the RAD CAP removed! This may occasionally allow all trapped air to escape. You wil NOTneed a brand new thermostat either, but you DO need the air to bee eliminated from the approach! >>>I certainly HOPE that they used a precise toyota pump and coolant here! If not you might have wasted extra money< and danger ruining your engine gaskets with time! TOYOTA coolant is targeted to your engine! Keep IT easy and believe TOYOTA constituents and FLUIDS for this factor! It method the change from a car lasting to 400k miles, or to 200k miles! VERY fundamental.

Tell your Dad you need him to read something, then bring him to this site, to your question. Let him read it and all the answers. He might get a better understanding of how badly his smoking is actually affecting you. It might help convince him to stop. Good luck!

Oh my God, I understand how you feel. I live with three people that smoke; my mom, my dad, and my cousin. I hate it so much, but honestly all of them are old. Don't think like that, but if you want him to stop, just sit down and talk to him. Do research, print of pictures of people who have diseases because of smoking. I am scared of the same thing, but don't let it get you down. Just talk to him sweetie.

okay is he smoking cig? you can't make him stop that . you can but him the patch or the gum or some thing tell him how you feel and ask him to stop. don't push him though because the stress will make him want to smoke more. after he eats ask him to help you with something. people like to smoke after they eat. when ever you see him going to have a cig ask him to help you with anything. if he is smoking pot or some thing like that tell him if he does not stop them you will start. but don't really.
